I grew up in the 70's
We didn't have a lot of options back then.
The basic rules:
Go first, and get it out of the way.
Take the time to get your bearings.
Stick to the pattern. Don't improvise, or it could all go wrong. Clearing your throat for the rest of the night sends the wrong message.
I forgot to add that cool weather is your friend. Build a solid foundation of "points" in the Fall and Winter because when the heat index is 105, well...
That's a solid game plan for the 2020s as well.
Why do we not have a dedicated thread to this very subject? I’m 99% sure 98% of the population loves it as well.
