you guys are us....at what length do you guys go to keeping him?.....guy is obviously one heck of a coach.....anything short of a show cause?
I agree with this. Your Program can't afford to get in trouble again so soon. Would just be a matter of time before he pulled the same stuff he did at Morehead State and Southern Miss.Originally posted by Seth C:
I'd have fired him before the season even started. Why risk it for a mid-major coach?
The NCAA and UNC*** must be loving this because it has people looking away from UNC***Originally posted by IL Wildcat:
The question here assumes a lot, even partial mind reading. So, I'm assuming that the original post up there is speaking about the newly hired UT coach Donnie Tyndall, who is currently under NCAA investigation.
In that article I just linked, we see that Southern Miss has self-imposed a post season ban this year due to the severity of the penalties they EXPECT to receive from the NCAA after reviewing the information for themselves.
The question is: how much did Tyndall have to do with the infractions? Was he directly involved? If so, it may not matter if what you guys WANT to do with him. The NCAA may kick him out of the sport for a year or two. You may have no choice.
The real question becomes this: what, if anything, should Tennessee do preemptively with Tyndall?
If I were the Tennessee AD, I'd be heading down to Southern Miss for some private meetings ASAP. I'd be getting a look, if there is any way, at the information Southern Miss has regarding the investigation. From there, I'd take appropriate action. I might also take a close look into Tyndall's recruiting and actions since he's taken the reigns at Tennessee.
Tennessee's big issue here is that they're already on thin ice, so to speak, with the NCAA due to the Pearl situation and investigation. The NCAA isn't going to hesitate to give UT's basketball major sanctions if they have any reason. So, if Tyndall has, in fact, broken rules (and it appears that MUST be the case after reading that article), UT needs to cut him loose. If he's not involved or won't be sanctioned, you could keep him. He's done a heck of a job with this group, without question.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, I must be the AD at UT.Originally posted by BlueWorldOrder:

Whatever it takes, as Donnie Tyndall can coach his balls off.Originally posted by akavff:

Yes, she was a heck of a ball player. She played for Bernadette at UK for 3 years, then finished up at Transy.Originally posted by KMKAT:
Tyndall's wife is the former Nikki Young, who played at UK from 1999-01....Ashland native.
She was an assistant as Southern Miss while Tyndall was there.
Sounds like Tyndall went to the Bobby Petrino school of dating.Originally posted by KMKAT:

Agree 100%. I think some people do not realize just how bad they were supposed to be this year. Not only did they lose Stokes & Maymon, they lost all of Cuonzo's recruits at the last minute when he left.Originally posted by caneintally:
He is a very very good coach so you keep him . Dude is going to take a team which lost like 8 players last year to the tourney this year which is freaking insane . I am beside myself with how good UT is this year . I thought they would win 10 games for the season and right now they are in 2nd place in the league . nuff said . And just b/c he got in trouble at one place doesn't mean he will there .
That's what I'm thinking. It's almost like there's UK, and then there are 13 most of which are decent teams, but none of whom seem ready to play themselves into the top 25. Of course Arkansas or LSU might still do that. Perhaps Alabama, but there doesn't appear to be another outstanding team in the SEC this year. I still think it's a tough league. We could lose any number of games, and at least unlike the ACC there aren't 3-4 teams at the bottom which are basically guaranteed wins for all the others. I think any of the SEC teams are capable of winning. Heck a 1-4 Vandy gave us quite a game in Rupp last night. We heard what Cal said after the game. I to am glad it wasn't in Nashville.Originally posted by uk_fan_in_tn:
I'm not entirely sold on Tyndall. I think what UT has done so far is a little overvalued right now. Yes, they have a depleted roster and they were picked to finish 13th in the league. But 3 of their 4 conference wins have come against Mizzou, Miss St, and South Carolina who are a combined 3-10 in league play. Nothing to really get excited about.

I disagree but can see where you are coming from but i just looked at there schedule and i think they win 4 of their next 5 and by then they will be on the correct side of the bubble around a 10 seed and from that point on they just gotta win the games they should and i think going into the SECT they will be around 22-9 or so and if they win a game there they are in due to their OOC schedule that included KU , Marq , VCU , NC ST , Butler , and KSU . I think they will be the 5th and last SEC team in . It will be a dog fight between them , Texas A& M and Bama .Originally posted by uk_fan_in_tn:

So two days ago you said something completely different? Man, you change your stance on the mythical 5th SEC team a lot. What happened to Ole Miss dude? You quit on them after one loss? They were 100% in this group as of this past weekend when you were blabbing about this.Originally posted by caneintally:

What I would do is very quickly create an African-American studies program, enroll every player on the roster in a bunch of online, no-exam, no physical-meeting-place classes, fire a bunch of women gofers, declare the problem solved and go about your merry way
Seems to work for other schools.....
Having watched them play, I don't think they are a very good basketball team and it will play out over the course of the season. They'd have to win 10 of their remaining 13 games (6 are on the road) to finish 22-8.....I just don't see it.Originally posted by caneintally:
