Texas A&M didn’t even make the SEC tournament championship game
We haven’t lost since September, just gets too hard to keep winning.
Needed a loss somewhere to taste defeat and refocus.

Hats off to A&M. They were the better team today. Better luck next year, Cats.
Geez, it’s like UK is doomed when it comes to winning a title in damn near anything anymore, they were absolutely dominated in this series, not even close.
I haven’t seen a team become so unglued in a series like this in a long time, they were rattled big time.

TAM was just too good, and I think UK ladies were tired from the 5-setter on Friday. Great season, just came up one game short. GBB!
1 senior. 5 recruits coming. Get or develop another top outside hitter and it will be another very good season.
Transfer portal makes it easy to land one.
Hudson was a beast though!
They had 9 Seniors. They deserved it.

Tough way to end an amazing season.
First set was extremely out of character for us and we never recovered.
Losing sucks, but when you lose due to self-inflicted wounds (esp in a title game) it's hurts so much worse.
Gonna sting for those ladies for quite awhile, especially over the coming weeks.
But they had an amazing season and should be proud. Heck, we're proud of them.

UK Athletics is on a 4 year drought for any national titles. A bit frustrating.
Of course the Women won the SECVB Tourney this year so at least they have SOME hardware.
Outside of that:
- Softball: Won the SEC Tournament in May 2024.
- Baseball: Won the SEC Regular Season and Tournament in 2024.
- Men's Basketball: Last SEC Tournament title was in 2018, regular season in 2020. Last National Title was in 2012.
- Women's Basketball: Last SEC Tournament title was in 2022, regular season in 2012.
- Volleyball: Won the NCAA National Championship in 2021, SECT 2025
- Rifle: Won the NCAA National Championship in 2021 (and 2018, 2011)
It's been a little dry in the National Title Case- VB has been the brightest sport on campus for a bit there.
I've never bought this argument. You either rise to the occasion or you don't.
That's not a shot at our girls by any means. Just is what it is.
A loss doesn't make you more likely to win going forward.
I think feeling the sting of the loss can make you refocus.
I’m not talking about a loss every couple of games.
I think we had won 28 in a row.
Pitino even said this weekend that he basically threw that 1996 SECT championship game.
If you played sports much you know the drive you have coming off a loss compared to a win. It’s different!

I just don't buy that logic. Did the Miami Dolphins need a loss the year they ran the gauntlet? What about IU?
A loss isn't better than a win- ever. But I will concede that if your team is getting to arrogant, then yes, a loss can be a reality check.
I don't think our Lady VB Cats were suffering from that. I think they fell under the pressure of playing for a title.
Texas A&M had 9 seniors- I'm sure Godzilla could've appeared and it wouldn't have fazed them. Experience is a KILLER thing to have on your side.
All in all, we beat ourselves a bit and that's just something we and they will have to live with. That's just life.
Hard work and grit doesn't always win even if we want it to. Sometime the other team just kicks your ***, either out of equal work or more annoyingly, luck.
Either way, it's still a great season for us. Just a gut punch that it didn't end the way we wanted.

if you’ve played a lot of sports you know that a loss can change you’re drive over winning all the time.
And the pressure becomes too great.
They were runners up for a natty. Don’t know how you can say they got dog walked in the series. Might not have done well today but respect the body of work ffs.
Sometimes you don’t and just have an off performance. Which can send you home.

not really…you want to work both the middle and the outsides…that spreads the blockers and leaves more open hitting opportunities over the course of the match. But those outside hitters also have about 4-5 angles they will hit depending on the blockers’ positions
The middle is usually a low quick set, and if that is working, the middle blockers can’t shift to the outside as easily. aTm was doing that well all game, and they’re defense (blocking & digging) was just ridiculously good. That’s what had the Cats offense second guessing and hesitant.
aTm was just crazy good today.
Sounds like you know the sport so I'll defer to you on that one. aTm was amazing... at times it looked like JV scrimmaging varsity. Cats were playing wall ball at the net the way it came right back at them about every time. I had a bad feeling going into the match that aTm was the team of destiny this year, after beating Nebraska and then sweeping Pitt, and I happened to see most of their first two sets against Louisville while sitting in a waiting room, so when I saw they came back to win I was impressed. And now they beat their third 1 seed today, hard to say they didn't deserve the title! Hope we smash them in basketball this year...
You are correct…
aTm was just playing lights out…even the things the Cats normally do well (serve receive, their setting is usually amazing), they didn’t do well. Just wasn't their day.

Actually, Brooklyn has played all season with torn miniscus since Nebraska game.
Great season. 1-1 with NChamps. Unbeaten and SEC regular and Conf tourney Champs.
1 senior so a very good and experienced nucleus coming back to jump start next season. I think 5 recruits signed.
