Pope will end year one with more postseason victories (NCAA and SEC) than Cal did the last 5 years combined, assuming that Butler comes back. It’s understandable to be frustrated right now, but this is going to end up being a successful year one for Pope when it’s all said and done.

I sure hope so, I know injuries are the reason for this fall but it sucks.

There’s no evidence to support that. He’s doing this year what he’s done his whole career. Win games he shouldn’t and lose a bunch he shouldn’t. Therefore the pattern will likely stay true and we won’t win a game in the tournament, even if we make it.

problem is our defense has not gotten any better all year and our team just gives no effort ... effort should be there no matter what, and it's not and hasn't been.
It was until the last 5 games. Not sure what's happening with our balls. Not the ones that go thru the hoop. They are non existent.

I hope you are right, but defensively I just don’t see them getting it done. Now….Lamont guarding the opposing PG with Kerr’s crazy energy, anything is possible. We need Kerr to smack the floor, take a charge, pump a fist, to get everyone else on board somehow.

Yeah, these guys are some mix of lazy, scared, or tired because you can tell they aren’t giving their heart and soul to the game. They aren’t willing to put their blood sweat and tears on the line.

The more threads like this get started, and the more excuses people make instead of acknowledging what Kentucky is. We are becoming Indiana, we inch closer every year we are irrelevant like we are this year.
To quote off this the only reason we get attention is because of how big our fanbase is. It’s not the on court product. This year they had some good wins but they still aren’t anywhere remotely close to being contenders or in the national discussion.

You can get away with zero defense at byu, they’re glad to just make the tournament but this is Ky & the SEC. He knows you have to be able to defend to win in this league and to cut down nets so I’m not sure why we are that bad on defense. And don’t give me the talent speech, where’s the elite of the elite on ole miss or the team of 5 stars??? Yes we fought back in the 2nd half, but no one digging out of that hole in this years SEC.

Is being slightly better than washed up Cal your standard for excellence?

I like Pope, I think he'll get us where we belong EVENTUALLY, but enough of these dumb Cal post.

True, but we're talking about this year.

How many quad 1 wins does IU have this year?
Idk, but it still gonna be the same thing. Kentucky isn’t doing any thing in the tourney this year. The defense is terrible and our offense is easy to gameplan for now

Hard to argue given the injuries and the nature of the roster. But if we win one game it's better than Cow did last year. It's a small improvement but I'll take it.

I'm more disappointed than pissed tonight. But I do think Pope will do better next year.

Is it though? They have been identical the past 6 years. Now I think pope can turn things around but I can also see the opposite side of the equation
Put the pipe down you moron. Indiana hasn't been to the Elite 8 in 22 years. We have been there 9 times in the past 20 tournaments. There are dozens of other similar statistics. "Becoming Indiana basketball" is a lot more than just the past 6 years. You are as stupid as Dakich. Congrats.

All we can do is hope anymore man. We can’t have outright belief anymore because we have been mid for 6 years now. I like pope, but some of his trends are things that cannot work in the SEC

Was listening to start of game on way home from office and said self, you don’t need this tonight so shut it off. Hope we can turn it around but lack of fight is concerning.
I only watched a little of the game today. They are pros now and they give little effort and care about as much as NBA players do. I'm in a much better mood when I don't watch that crap.
