To kill some time I'm going out and check on the 3 deer stands on my property. "Any" deer season opens Saturday the 16th for 11 days. I get free tags for being a property owner. Dont know if I will really try and get one this year. Will take my daughters boy friend out here and see if he can get his first one. I will be the Bawana and back up shooter for him. I've gotten enough over the years.

We hired a young kid at work only 23 that loves to hunt but he said his Mom would only work with the back strap. I told him I would take all the deer meat she dont want. He is quickly becoming my best friend at work.

90 acres on the east side of the Blacktop. Also have more on the other side with my brother-in-law. We run cattle over there on most of 160 acres along with hay. No live stock on my side just mostly timber and a few small fields that we usually plant food plots in. Didnt plant anything this year tho.I have hunting rights on about 6-700 acres all around me but dont have to leave around home to get deer, turkey, squirrels, ect. I live in Dallas County in what is called the Lead Mine Area. All farm and cattle/hay fields. Its most all timber tho.

I've got 3 stands up. My main one is 4' x 8', fully enclosed with window panels I can open up all the way around. Its 20' tall. One is a two-man tree stand and the 3rd is a 1 man. All have swivel seats. The big one has two seats along with carpet and a piss tube so ya dont have to go outside ... :D I also take a propane heater up there if it really cold. Gonna be below freezing most this week with snow Monday. Probably be all gone by Saturday looks like.

Yesterday while checking out the stands found good size buck tracks at the main one. Didnt look for any Rubs but They are always there. Loads of acorns this year so dont think they will be moving much to feed. I keep seeing 3-5 good does and a couple bucks from the house. I've already brush-hogged around the Main stand and most all the leaves are off so have a good 90-100 yard field of view for about 270 deg around. The north side is at the top of a draw that is all timber and a lot of em come up from there right into the clearing on the east side. There are 6 game trails that cross in front of the stand. Here we can take one Antlered deer and one non-antlered on my county. I get free tags for my land. I could get more for the property that dosnt ajoin the 90 acres but have never had to.

That's awesome, sounds super nice. I also live on a farm in Camden County. We have a little over 200 acres there and about 180 acres in Pasquotank County. Soybeans, corn, wheat, and cotton is what we have always had planted. We just leased 178 acres behind my house to an energy company called Solar Access USA. They signed a 30 yr lease and are putting solar panels on all 178 acres. There's just no money to be made in farming anymore.

Talk about lap of luxury, literally sitting comfortable in the stand.

My son lives in Rougemont, in Durham Co. He has a place and has a collection of all kinds of farm animals. Over 200 fowl, Ducks, geese, peacocks, chickens, ect.. Also miniature donkeys, fainting goats, horse. Its just his and wifes hobby. He works at Lenovo in Durham. There is also a Solor Farm ajoining him. Nice and quiet tho and no pollution.
