The chick on the talking dead tonight I think nailed it. The W is an upside down M. Morgan.

So, it seems pretty clear that someone is capturing people and branding them before killing them. Walkers wouldn't eat another walker tied to a tree, so that lady was tied up alive before walkers came along and ate her liver. I suppose she could have been found that way,( tied to the tree), then branded. If that were the case, then it would not be and upside down M.
Morgan, wouldn't tie a live person to a tree and let her get eaten. Therefore, it is not Morgan and it is a W not an M.

My prediction:
I didn't see talking dead, but the upside down "W" being an "M" was my guess as well.
We know that Morgan has slipped a cog or two and if he didn't recover from the episode where Rick and crew relieved him of some of his firepower, he could still be harboring the hate for losing his son and having his weapons taken and now hunting down Rick. Along the way, he's developed a hatred for everyone and has become a post-apocalyptic serial killer.
In the alternative, Morgan recovered his faculties has actually been tracking the serial killer(s) along the way and had discovered that the killer(s) used markings on trees to communicate with each other. (That mark on the tree near Terminus wasn't put up by the termites, but rather the killer(s) but was thrown in to confuse the viewer as to who Morgan was following.) When he saw that Rick had headed to DC, he set out in hopes of finding him to get some help to stop the killer(s).
RIck isn't "banished" as the Doc is the one who actually started the physical stuff and it's clear that he poses a threat to his wife and kid. Instead, Darryl and Aaron and spot the killer(s) (who may or may not be Morgan) and return with that info and Rick volunteers or is forced to go hunt down the killer(s) to earn his spot back in the community.

First off...The leader of the termites already stated that they marked the trees as a way to find their way back to Terminus. he then admitted that it was a stupid thing to do since the place was destroyed and overrun.
Also, I am going to be shocked if the W is actually an upside down M and related to Morgan. That really makes no logical sense. Morgan is a fan favorite, and they aren't going to turn him into someone who carves a letter into the forehead of live people and then kills them/let's them die. The girl tied to the tree had to be alive when she was tied up. Therefore there would be no way for her to be upside down when he carved the letter (unless she was alive when it was carved, which brings us back to him being a killer/torturer).
Also, it doesn't make sense that someone who is smart enough to capture a zombie, and control it well enough to carve a letter on the forehead, without getting bit, would not be smart enough to know how to carve an M right side up so it doesn't look like a W.
Sasha seems to be coming apart just like Tyrese did.
Of course there's no way to know just how psychologically destructive the zombie apocolypse would be, but it sure seems like there's a certain element of Shakespearian madness always creeping through the minds of at least a couple individuals in the group at any one time. That's the part I'm starting to get a little bored upon....
Group member A either witnesses the death or learns of the death of group member B, goes crazy, gets careless, ends up dead. Sometimes, there's some aspect of catharsis with no death on the part of group member A....Rinse, repeat.
But Sasha appears to be just about ready to meet up with Tyrese.
I suspect we are heading towards a Morgan cliffhanger. It's about time we saw something come of the whole Morgan thing. Perhaps the unrest in Alexandria will be a plot ingredient in the timing of Morgan's arrival. Rick's blow up and Deanna's newly forming trust conundrum, with aid from Preacher Weasel, could possibly leave Morgan outside the walls dodging carefully sighted suppressed projectiles from Sasha's rifle.
What the hell is wrong with the preacher anyway? That guy is a VERRY annoying character. Wish he would step off a curb wrong or something.
I kinda figured Carl's foray into grabass would end up with him getting maimed in some way.
And i know it wouldn't be any fun...but why can't these idiots all just chill out in there little commune and just live lol....throw doc a beatin and move the wife and kids, find Sasha some lithium, and give Carl some condoms. Eat, drink, and be merry.

"The Wolves are near" was spray painted on the walls of Shirewilt Estates and there was evidence of a human attack there.
My bet is that the "W" is for that.
"The Wolves" isn't in the comic book, by my wild guess is that that is the name the TV show will use for Negan's gang. Negan is the next up "Big Bad Guy" in the comic books and the show follows the comic books generally (though not in all aspects of characters).
