I like Walmart but don't do a lot of the grocery shopping there. My family does not care about national brand product for most foods. Exceptions: mayonnaise (has to be Hellmans or Kraft), Softdrinks (has to be Coke or Ale-8), tea (has to be Lipton). Walmart usually has the best price on those items. For other foods, we go to Save-a-lot. Their canned goods, cereals, meats are as good as anyone else's. Kroger only for sale items
So your family are mayo and coke snobs and you shop at save-a-lot for everything else?

I shop at the walmart marketplace in palomar for convenience type items because my office is about 400 feet from it. I spent $1,275 there last year and just cashed in my $13.70 in savings catcher for the year. I seriously doubt they are even giving you 10% of the actual cost comparison savings. It's literally just a ploy to get you to not think about shopping somewhere else.
Most of the time, Walmart's prices are cheaper than the competition or exactly the same to begin with, at least from where I am living now and where I came from. And when something is cheaper, in my experience it's only cheaper than a few cents at normal prices. Sometimes you might luck out and get 25 or 50 cents back if somewhere else is having a sale. They do pay the full cost savings though, I've verified it several times if I still had the ad for some place. For example, one time I bought a couple Dr. Pepper's at Walmart for $1.25 and Food Lion had them on sale for $1.00, I got 25 cents back on each Dr. Pepper

Not my family as much as me. It ain't mayo if it ain't Hellman's or Kraft. It ain't "pop" if it ain't Coke or Ale-8. Not just Save-a-lot. I'll go to Kroger for their loss-leaders and certain week's sale items. Never buy anything at Kroger for regular price.

This is totally of topic but I am elated that Willy4UK has changed his profile pic from the dude with snot hanging out of his nose. It really grossed me out. I started to block him so I didn't have to look at it but enjoy his post too much to do that.

Not sure why we are arguing about in-store shopping when the internet exists.

Amazon, same-day shipping, any retailer having an online marketplace, grocery delivery, Dropshipping, boutique renewal services with everything from snacks to booze to shave needs..

What need is there to ever step foot in a Walmart? Maybe further, what need is there to ever step foot in ANY store?

Last minute beer trips, a local butcher for good cuts of meat and the occasional last minute grocery/supply trip. That's it.

I'd be spending like 2x as much on groceries if I did my grocery shopping through Amazon instead of Walmart.

Idk about amazon for groceries.. I just meant amazon for almost anything you could possibly want. I use them for bulk items I can't find elsewhere (Kind and quest Bars, mass amounts of beef jerky).

Most grocery chains do delivery and pick up. Shoprite does a pickup for $5, which is worth the hassle of spending an hour at the grocery store, buying crap I don't need. And I can't imagine it's much more than Walmart, not to mention I trust certain grocery stores over Walmart.

Come to think of it. I bet the food items are fine when they get to Walmart.. It's the workers, and more so the filthy customers touching it, that I worry about.

Most? You must live in a big city of some sort. Grocery stores delivering or doing the pickup thing is non-existent here in central Virginia.

Don't know much about Virginia except Arlington and Fairfax, but those are pretty big cities.

In upstate, NY.. it's not really a "major" city, but three smaller cities spread out in a triangle about 10-15 miles apart. I think all the major grocery chains by me (Price Chopper, Shoprite and Hannaford) all do delivery and pickup.
