Watching Mike Leach's 6-3 team leading UCLA in the second quarter. WSU just blocked a punt (a good special teams play). Granted, UCLA is no Vanderbilt but WSU does look like a program making positive strides.

they had Stanford cold last week too but for a missed chip shot FG at the end. Their D has no talent to speak of but has been very effective the last month.

If we finish the season 1-1, Stoops will have the same exact record Leach did in his first 3 years at WSU.
Not making any comparisons. Besides, when you're as close a proximity to so many major population centers as you are in eastern Washington pretty much anyone could win there.

i don't thing that's possible since Leach went to a bowl in '13. but it is amazing how teams with similar records over the same time frame can look so wildly different in their proficiency.

WSU is looking stronger each year and each game...

they aren't getting blown out...their offense is productive...their players are playing with desire and a winning attitude...

I'm not crowning them Pac 12 champions or Mike Leach the new Saban...but they are on a good path to competitiveness and consistency...

folks, it is what it is...Mike Leach is crazy, unorthodox, controversial, etc...but he never had a losing season at tech...i would wager that he will get to that point of winning 7-8 games regularly at WSU...and he just so happened to engineer one of the most prolific offenses UK and the SEC has seen, so he has had some sort of experience and success in this conference...

Beginning the 4th quarter WSU leads at 19th ranked UCLA. Win or lose Coach Leach has his team playing well.

9.5 dogs playing in LA and they won 31-27. I have been betting on them and watching their games a lot lately and usually win the bet. Very enjoyable game tonight.

Nice points about his record there and Stoops record so far at UK, also a nic point about all the population centers around Spokane, why you can pass through Yakima and Wenatchee both on your way to Seattle, and it is only about three hundred milesaway.

They closed as a 12.5 dog.

After a 6-6 year two record they also went 3-9 in year three with quite a few lopsided loses. This year they do also have a loss to an fcs school. Their division of the pac 12 Is also not the greatest.

Leach has done a good job there, but didn't do it overnight. Stoops has taken us from a two win team year one, to five year two who was really really close to being 7-5 last year if not for a questionable call at Uf and a dropped pick at UofL. Also possible 6-0 start here if not for two big drops. This team was better that night than auburn and 17 pts better than vandy last night. Just the losing mentality keeps raring it's ugly head. Teams accustomed to winning don't have trouble making plays in criticial times. We have made one of those in baker in Eku game.

The Timmons drop was huge last night. an offense that is struggling needs that cofidence. A big touchdown pass on the first drive would of gave them that.

6-6
3-9
12-24 overall

Stoops
2-10
5-7
5-7 (assuming we go 1-1)

Leach as a HC: 103-71 and a stint in Lubbock that included 10 bowl appearances in all 10 years at T-Tech....starting with the first year. Leach at WSU is 19-28 with a bowl game in his second year and his team at 7 wins and 5-2 in conference in the fourth year.
Stoops as HC: 12-24 and lucky to be there (EKU, ULL). Hapless and hopeless on the sidelines.

No comparison between these two head coaches. One is an experienced winner. The other has shown nothing in preparation or on the sidelines or on the field that shows he knows what he is doing.

Trust me on this, I am not defending Stoops 1 bit. Major changes need to be made and it's an embarrasment right now. What I am saying is if Stoops\Leach or whomever came in here, regardless of their history anywhere else and went 3-9, 6-6, 3-9 in his first 3 seasons, a majority of our fans would be asking for his head. That's all I'm saying.

Not necessarily. I've been defending him until this week. It's one thing to lose. But we can't even get lined up to kick the damn ball - something we have plenty of practice at given how much the offense has regressed. That is REALLY concerning. Because it's not as if this is a one off incident. It's a recurring problem that hasn't been addressed.

Leach was too much of a wildcard for st. Mitch to consider, as he would not be a good Sunday school teacher. That's a prerequisite to be a football coach at UK.
