Watching PSU football overseas

I recall being able to stream network TV overseas but in recent years it's been blocked. I've tried a couple of free VPNs but they didn't work. I think the providers have become more sophisticated. I'm going to be on a cruise ship on August 30th when PSU plays Nevada on CBS at 3:30pm (9:30pm in Europe). Any suggestions on how I can watch?

LOL! Let me get this straight... You'll be on a cruise ship in Europe, and you want to watch the PSU vs Nevada game live?! Man, that's some dedication! I'll be in Ireland for the Whiteout against Oregon and I can guarantee you I won't be staying up for it. Or even worrying about how to watch it. But, since you seem to be a diehard fan ;) (y)... I've paid for Nord VPN for years and it has been useful in logging on to servers in other countries (from here and abroad) for the reason you seek. I assume the ship will have internet access and you have an account (Comcast, Paramount, whatever) that gets you access to CBS content. Maybe pay for a VPN? Or, maybe others with serious cruise experience will have a better idea. Best wishes and I'll wave from my seats!

The game starts at 9:30pm in Europe so I won't miss any of the day's activities. I use YoutubeTv at home but they shut down when you're out of the country. That includes the minute you cross the border into Canada.

A couple of years ago I was able to use a free VPN but they no longer work even though I'm connected to a U.S. server. I guess I could try NORD VPN to see if there's any difference. I wonder if they can sense the GPS on your phone even if you connect to a U.S. server.

Hey, more power to you! You want to watch PSU kick Nevada's butt live on TV/internet, go for it! And I am not an expert here, but I'm wondering if whatever free VPN you were using wasn't changing server addresses so the content providers had blacklisted it. The paid VPN's -- and there's plenty out there, I just started using Nord years ago -- may be making sure their server addresses change regularly so you don't get shut-out. Again, not an expert! Best wishes!

Well, we all have our own levels of fandom. My guess is the majority of people on this board:

1 - wouldn't make plans for a trip to Ireland over the weekend of the Oregon game (the biggest White Out game in recent years) and if they did ...

2 - they would probably make an effort to stay up late and try to watch it.

To each their own.

Thanks. Uh, there's no tone on the internet (as you may have noticed) so that was meant to be humorous, not antagonistic. Sorry if that didn't come through. As for me, we have four season tickets. Our daughter (30) and son (24) will each take their respective "friend" to the "biggest White Out game in recent years." They have each been attending PSU games since before their first birthdays. It is a great gift we are happy to give to them, and they are grateful both for receiving it, and for their parents to go on vacation. I've been going to games since 1972 so I apologize if missing one somehow seems not up to the majority level of fandom around here. (We've got close to 2,000 NLC points and are wrestling season ticket holders as well if that makes up for anything). As for Ireland, their tourist season ends around mid-September. Going soon after that means you still generally have access to things that are only open certain times of the year (inter-island ferries in the Aran Islands), but fewer crowds. To the extent that Ireland gets crowded anyway. In addition, the weather hasn't usually gone all to sh*t either (cold). Not to mention my wife's work has less flexibility than mine, and we planned this last year before the B1G announced the schedule. A 7:30 PM kick is 12:30 AM over there. We'll be in Donegal that evening after a long day in Glenveagh National Park and the Sliabh Liag Cliffs. By 12:30 AM we will have had a nice dinner and a few whiskies and be snoring in bed. I'll find out how it went when I wake up. And since neither a loss nor win will determine the fate of PSU's season, I will be fine. As you said, to each their own. Thanks again.

I appreciate your response. I saw a post from a guy who I didn't recognize as a "regular" and I did interpret your message that you were jumping in and ragging on another fan who wanted to make an effort to watch the game while he was out of the country. Enjoy your trip to Ireland and enjoy the rest of the 2025 Penn State football season - it could be a special one.

Hey Smee,

You present yourself as perhaps a bigger arsehole than me sans the intellect to properly punctuate a stream of thoughts, let alone a paragraph.

Your blathering post (which I copied) is as an example of what not to do.

Are you this obnoxious in real life?

When I was in Spain in 2023, I used streameast for the Iowa game. If you do a little digging, you might be able to find a few other streams out there that can work without jumping through the hoops of VPNs.

I would have voted for Agnew. But, yes, I am. Count yourself lucky and use the Ignore feature!

I have the same question. I'll be in Italy for the Nevada game. A few years ago when PSU played Northwestern in the rain I used Nord VPN and ESPN player (game was on ESPN) to watch in Spain. I downloaded the CBS app and am hoping with Nord VPN I might be able to watch.

Some of the streaming services allow you to set your home ZIP Code, which then will determine what games you see. You could get something like fubo or hulu live and use a Philly home zip codeduring the setup. You will have to determine what VPN works with each service.
