WBB putting a hurt on the Gophers, up 27 with 5 minutes left in the game.

They came out hot and that made the game so easy!

Aggressive match up zone with double teams to make up for lack of size.

Pulliam will be candidate for POY in the B1G. Hope she makes good decisions about shot selection. She is such a step above the competition in speed and physical presence.

Hope to catch more games. Watched at least 1/2 of the game as I was flipping to the Marquette @ Creighton game.

We'll see as the season progresses, but so far I like Burton even better than Pulliam as player of the year in the Big Ten.

One of my favorite parts of the game was the announcers talking about Minnesota had really been working on reducing turnovers after their previous game followed by the Gophers turning it over on like 5 of their first 6 possessions. That game was over in a hurry.

Great performances from all of the starters. I was especially impressed by Courtney Shaw (10 pts, 6 rbs). I was a little concerned about her being able to handle a much bigger role this season, but so far so good (2 games). At times we struggled to get rebounds and MN did get 15 offensive rebounds, but we out-rebounded them overall.

With only two non-conference games, I really like how the opening of our conference schedule gradually ramps up the difficultly in opponents (MN-PU-NE-MI). Hopefully we can get out to a good start in conference play.

On a side note, Greg Newsome appears to be dating Veronica. If they ever end up having kids, we need to get them to commit to NU. :D

According to Burton, they are engaged. You're absolutely right - any child born to this couple, boy or girl, should be offered immediately.

Burton is without doubt the best player. She has the swagger of Greg......

[She needs to get Under Armour to work on her bra though.....]

Veronica is taking it to the next level. 27 pts tonight to lead the way vs Purdue.

NU power couple. She’s following in her parents footsteps. Wish PBJ would do the same.

Also a big reason for #2 to stick around another year so they can graduate together.

The Burton family dating back to Ron in late 50s has been a remarkable NU athletics story. Veronica may turn out to be the most talented of all.

VB was incredible last night. Career highs in points and assists, not sure if she got the 6th steal to tie that career high. At least 2 blocked shots. Superior management of the offense.

Pulliam starting season slowly, but I'm not at all concerned about her. I do worry about dealing with big teams. The freshman center who started is raw, and looks foul prone. Shaw is "only" 6' tall -- Purdue had at least three players who were significantly bigger and stronger in the post. Not sure how good Purdue is.

This will be a fun team to watch
