That's horrible if true, I've never heard of this. Not saying you're lying or anything, just that I haven't heard it brought up. Every single one who did should be ashamed and obviously, no one on this board would support or tolerate that garbage. But in general, having lived in NC for 18 years, I've had more awful run ins with UNC fans than I care to remember. The fact that UNC has more 10x as many fans as Duke does doesn't help either, as it provides more opportunities for your fanbase to show their *** against our relatively small fanbase.
And the reason why you haven't heard of it? Because it was only a few people that actually did it. Just like how it was a few people that said stuff about Bolden or how it was a few people that thought the whole "blow out" shirt was a good idea. Which is my point, don't let the minority be what you use to judge a fan base. Easier said than done when it's your rival, but I sure as hell try not to lump the casual Duke fan with the bad ones.
I don't lump all Heel fans together, if I did, I'd hate 90% of my family. This one incident isn't what caused me to think Heel fans suck, 18 years of being treated like scum because of my choice in freaking college basketball did that. I have had 1 decent interaction with a Heel fan outside of my family my whole life, last year, at a bar in Hickory I ended up sitting beside a good ole boy to watch the Duke-UNC game at Cameron. He was a ****-talker but, he didn't do it in an *******, I'm better than you sort of way, just friendly banter the whole game, and it was really cool to just be able to enjoy a few beers and watch the game with an opposing fan. If your whole fan base was like that for the most part, I'd have nothing but respect for the Heels, as is, it was one decent interaction in almost two decades which, just sucks man.
No man I totally understand. That's just how it is unfortunately. I'd love to just talk basketball with you guys (as in Duke fans in general), as well as Kentucky fans, Kansas fans, etc. That's all I want. I want to be able to come on here and just talk basketball. But because of how we view other fan bases, it's insanely hard for that to happen. And it'll only get worse I feel like.
See, the difference is, YOU can come here and talk basketball. WE cannot go on your board and talk basketball, for we all been banned. And before you say we probably deserved it, I was banned for saying JJ Redick was probably the best long range shooter in ACC history. Nothing more.
Definitely didn't deserve that. Off the top of my head, JJ was probably the best long rage shooter. Definitely up there

The thing is that unc fans that read some of these stories think we are making them up and if not they don't see the big deal. For years I've been using the term entitled to describe the team, the fan base and everything else that goes along with that cheating program. It proved my point when they got out of the cheating academic scandal with not even a slap on the wrist. I used to have a little respect but that went away about 3 years ago. Not one unc fan has admitted that the AMAF was wrong. Now lets see if we have a heel fan respond. OFC
You are the first ever that admitted it. You got some balls my man and if the mods over at thr get a look at it you've been tombstoned. I do appreciate it and hope you are sincere. Doesn't make any less a heel fan. My take is I want the program I support to be clean and if not regardless of who is involved then they need to be responsible and if that person is Coach K then he needs to be held accountable. You can point out thats easy to say but when it happens

Every successful teams fan base has large amounts of OBNOXIOUS fans, heck even some unsuccessful large fanbases. Notre Dame football, Cubs baseball for years, IU basketball even while losing still were holier then thou types.
Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Indiana, etc. are all known for obnoxious fanbases, but if 100 fans are there and 90 are passionate but reasonable it will be the 10 that are looking to "bark" and pour salt in open wounds that will be remembered by the rivals fans. Just how it goes. Every die hard fan has heard it from rivals.

It's funny because I've never posted on there. Started out on the main rivals board, which led me to THR and here (as a lurker, until recently). Now, I will say I am pretty active on IC...
Technically, I didn't elaborate any beyond those 3 words. But what happened at UNC was wrong.
I admire that. A man with principles is high on my list. This board ends you . I started posting here in 2006. There were quite a few unc fans like yourself. They added to the board and we had good natured fun. I miss those and it's been so long their nicknames escapes me. Wish the boards could be cordial. OFC

Let me add this. You are new to the board and I don't know if you even followed this board and if you have I don't know how long. I use phrase "He's a tar heel fan. He can't help it. It's his nature. " quite often mostly in good nature. I also use this a lot. " I'm a Duke fan. I can't help it. It's my nature." OFC

Yup, that'd be a disgrace to Duke fans everywhere. Like I said I think the really bad Unc fans are more noticeable just because UNC has a ton more fans than Duke, especially in NC. But we definitely have some.
Who is the best isn’t the point here. It was that I got banned for saying that. Btw....Dennis Scott was not a better shooter than JJ....he just wasn’t.
