Just two teams left, but I think there is chance I'm doing this about two teams next week.
Geneseo (8-2) @ Macomb (9-1): Last week, Geneseo needed a last second field goal to get past Rochelle, while Macomb beat Hillcrest 21-6. Geneseo is having it’s best season in a decade, grinding out some tough wins with it’s option based attack and tough defense. They haven’t been flashy this season, they have just gotten the job done. Macomb has been the big fish playing in a conference with 2A and 3A schools. They have been solid all season, but I question how ready they will be for a Geneseo team that has been fighting much larger school all season, and fighting them successfully. Geneseo 28 – Macomb 14
Moline (9-1) @ Glenbard North (7-3): Last week, Moline ground out a decently comfortable win over Andrew, 24-0. This weekend they make the trek cross state to the burbs to take on a resurgent North team who had won only two games the past two seasons, and now have a playoff win (over Yorkville 17-0) under their belt and get to host a playoff game. Both Moline and North are run first team, with Moline doublely so out of their wing-t formation. The big battle in this one will be Glenbard North’s offense against a Moline defense who has pitched multiple shut outs and only giving up 9 points a game. Since the beginning of October, that number only stands at 3.3 points a game. I think Moline’s defense gets the job done again. Moline 21 – Glenbard North 7.
