Sterling @ Moline: I'm not sure what to make of either of these teams yet. Moline played tough against Rochester and then got humbled by Sycamore. Sterling had next to no offense against Metamora and stupid amounts against a CPL school. I think the key to this game will be if Sterling’s D, which has been super tough, can give the offense time to find it’s rhythm. There is a rumor that Moline is a bit banged up after the Sycamore game. How banged up is any ones guess though. Sterling 21 – Moline 20.

Galesburg @ United Township: This might be a sneaky good game. Normally Galesburg does not fair well against it’s WB6 brethren. This season though, they might sneak up on a few teams. UT is one of those teams. Galesburg 34 – UT 30.

Geneseo @ Rock Island: Poor Rocky has spent the past two weeks getting blitzed by tough opponents. Geneseo has beaten two tough opponents. Not sure this one fairs well for Rocky either as Geneseo is battle hardened and embraces grinding on opponents. Geneseo 35 -Rocky 20.

Quincy vs UP Bronzeville: More yummy cupcake action for the Blue Devils. Quincy 60 – UP Bronzeville 0.

It’s still going to take time, but I watched Rock Island play against my son’s team at Kaneland in week 1, and they have made noticeable progress over last season. Pretty well organized, enthusiastic to play, I didn’t see the silly mistakes of last season, and they have a few talented players in the right spots. It was obvious enough that I said something to one of Rocky’s coaches to encourage them.

They will keep working and I think they will get incrementally more competitive each week.

I was surprised to see Sterlings line play hold up against Moline and can even say more dominant.
The 21-10 Sterling win was crazy as Sterling had so many yards and chances to get in the end zone but just couldent get in, one fumble that went the other way and two missed field goals, they held the ball the entire 3rd quarter but never scored because the refs were flag happy and called back two big plays, It wasn't till the 4th q they finally put up 14 points. Sterlings D only giving up 20 points in 3 games has surprised me too, playing against Metamora and Moline. I’m pleasantly surprised this year.
