We are officially the highest ranked team in the country via KenPom (61) that is not over .500 overall.
We are also #365 (dead last) in the country in the luck rating, which isn’t really about luck but about underachieving. A team with our offensive and defensive ratings should have won 67% of its games, and we have won 50%. That’s a massive gap, and indicative of not being able to make winning plays in big moments. And I think speaks to only having one player to rely on in those big moments (and opponents knowing that).
There are teams that find ways to win and this team is unfortunately the opposite right now. Some regression to the mean should happen, but it may already be too late to salvage a decent season which is frustrating.
