I agreed it was a done deal about two years ago when these data were compiled. That's pretty much the story regardless of time of day.
Done deal and I will soon see what the most recent two years tell us...
Well the writer does state that the data he used “is based on three-year average revenues across the 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons (ties in revenue were broken using average profits).” However in the same article the writer states that “Louisville turned $23 million in profit
LAST YEAR, (since this article was written in 2019 i’m ***-uming he means 2018) making it
more profitable than the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Hornets.”
The artucle also tells us that “from the 2014-15 season through the 2016-17 one, Louisville basketball averaged annual revenues of $52 million and profits of $30 million; across those three seasons, just four other college teams had more than $30 million in average revenue.”
This quote here is saying that only four programs in all of college bball could even muster up enough revenue to equal our profits.
I’d say with a three year run like that there is likely to be some dips in revenue and profit from time to time, and based on how much overwhelmingly better that we’ve been than
every other single school in college basketball the doom and gloom attitudes regarding our athletic dept financials are not warranted.
