We better hope Sellers never goes down

Doty is a football player. A QB. Our backup QB.

Learn to love it.

I guess our football team is in a really good position for 2025 if the early training camp negativity revolves around who the backup quarterback is.

We can all hope this is the biggest topic we'll have to discuss in the preseason.

No RB, WR questions, talent departures all across the D and a weak OL have been pushed aside for the worry du jour at qb.

I admit to a lack of knowledge about Noland, and am basing my comment on his highschool/recruiting hype.

I see Doty as a nice guy, but I would be concerned if he really is the 2nd best qb on our team.

I suppose in one sense, our season entirely hinges on Lanorris, so if he goes down the season is lost, so it doesn't matter if your QB is a WR.

True, and many teams are in that boat. But would Doty get us to bowl eligibility? If Sellers goes down, we should at least be working towards that.

Sellers shouldn’t be the leading rusher on the team.
Why not?

If Sellers is as good as many think he can be, he could be the leading rusher and that wouldn't be a bad thing. That's especially true with the questions we have at RB.

That would mean he’s running for his life. Not but so many designed quarterback runs that are successful.

Not necessarily. Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, and Johnny Manziel all lead their respective teams in rushing during their Heisman campaigns. Lamar Jackson lead Louisville in rushing all three years he was there. Jalen Hurts was within a couple hundred yards of leading Alabama in rushing both his seasons as their starting quarterback.

Those teams win anything?

Depends what you characterize by winning, but Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, and Jalen Hurts all won SEC and national championships. Johnny Manziel gave A&M the most success they'd had in years.

It certainly hurt us this year. If we had a QB2 who the coaches trusted to pass the ball, there's a much better chance we win the lsu game.

It wouldn't have mattered that day. We were not going to be allowed to beat LSU.

For obvious reasons. But Beamer said Doty is #2, which would be an abysmal situation to be in. I can only assume he’ll rapidly fall down the depth chart in preseason practice camp.

This was, unfortunately prophetic.

I will say again, I am basing my opinion. Of Noland simply off hs and recruiting rankings. But hes no where near what I was hoping for if Doty is better than him.

Maybe its just the staff leaning on Doty being more experienced?

He WAS a qb. I find it disturbing that there is so little depth in the qb room that a WR would ever be listed as #2 qb.
It’s Carolina. Remember we made a grad assistant our starter once

Frankly, it may not even be sellers. He just hasn’t looked that good this year anyway and the team overall outside of looking pretty decent on defense we just don’t look good. We are definitely not well coached. Not even close.

You seen us tackle on defense? Do we even practice?
