Great point how we never seem to have the guys who can slash and finish at the rim is a miraculous. Even Law is not a smooth finisher even when healthy. Greer has been our best slasher the last couple games and that is not good.
Agreed. We are awful at finishing at the hoop and it definitely affects how teams guard us. And obviously it puts a ton of pressure on our outside shooting and requires running the offense to near perfection when we are not shooting well.
I have always been a huge Law fan, even when he struggled early in his career. He is obviously a good athlete but he never learned how to finish. He frequently ends up bringing the ball down below his waste and getting his shot blocked. Turner can get to the hoop but he's a poor finisher as well. And Taylor never really tries. I think Kopp will get better with more experience. Nance needs to get stronger but I am hoping he we be able to take bigger players off the dribble. I. Brown had all kinds of issues but he was actually able to finish at the hoop or draw fouls. We desperately need to recruit more players that can do that.
The Bulls have a rookie, Chandler Hutchinson that is a small forward like Law. Law is not as strong but is pretty close to him athletically and is a much better 3-point shooter. The only area where Hutchinson excels over Law is that he can finish on fast breaks and break people down to get to the basket. I don't know if Law can work in the offseason to develop that part of his game. He's 23 so it's not looking good.
