They won't do it, but the smart play is to go for Chip Kelly or Ed Orgeron IMO!
They are hiring Will Stein. Which is either going to be a genius move or a terrible move. Will hasn’t been a head coach. But he’s the best young offensive mind in the game.
I hope they don’t hire Will Stein he is a great offensive mind. I wished we would hire him as a coordinator. I hate it when former Louisville players end up on the sUcK sideline.
I just looked it up and they are reporting that sUcK is hiring Will. I want Will to be successfully but I don’t want Big Blew to be successful. I wonder who he would add to his coaching staff?
They also say in the same article that Stoops was the winningest coach in sUcK history. His combined record is 82-80 over the past 13 years. It will be hard for anyone to match his success.
I just listened to a speech by Will Stein describing his offensive strategy and his mindset. He is going to be a scary coach to compete with.
Until he doesn’t have Oregon talent and Nike cash. I remember Hal Mumme and how scary that supposedly was going to be.
A lot of good offensive minds arent good head coaches. So many variables in todays climate with asst coaches, NIL, and just overall management of rosters, etc. Plus he's in the SEC, which makes everything even that much more difficult. But he's home and a head coach. Hope he fails miserably and we hire him as an OC after 2 years!
I wish him well. His success will depend on his DC and staff that he hires. His OC and that side of the ball will be fine. The defense will need to be up to snuff in the SEC or he will go down hard. Time wil tell and recruiting the state and especially the city will fun to watch.
