This kid is going to be a STUD!

Watching his film, he plays with passion, anger, and a non-stop motor.

I definitely like this guy. I believe they are going to keep him as an edge rusher and not try and bulk him up to play DE full time. Nebraska was the one school that told the family that, and apparently it made a difference in the decision.

This will be one of the kids that gets bumped to 4 star at some point during this coming seasom. jmho

I can't remember.....are we supposed to be excited? Or is this just another 3 * guy and doesn't matter because we are in the bottom of the recruiting rankings?

Fully agree. This was a big time get for us.
I said in the other post he reminds me of Rusty Medereas. He's our top commit so far. I'm in favor of holding some spots for later in the fall just in case we have a good record.

And he was ready to commit once he had the opportunity to do so. That counts for something in my book. He jumped at the chance to commit.

After getting a chance to look into him, he looks great on tape and his dad is a minister who also played in the NFL. That's a good combination! Didn't realize that his dad played at Augie. That said, what position will he play? He's a textbook rush end or 4-3 end, but we play the 3-4. Is he a long term 3-4 end project or will they put him in a Garrett Nelson/Pheldarius Payne role?

I think more of DE but with the package of a Payne/Gunnerson out there too instead of more speedy Tanor type.

His dad said that Nebraska was the one school that was looking at him to play as a "rush end". Most schools wanted to bulk him up and play interior line. I am thinking he will be the Payne/Nelson role

Sure it does. Mid 3* with no local school offering. FSU or Florida didn’t offer.

He has an offer from Miami, is that not a local school?

Sure he has some lower tier offers like Mizzou, but he also has a lot of big boy offers like: Nebraska, Michigan, Penn State and Stanford.

very solid pickup. Frost continues to really outperform on the recruiting trail compared to results on the field. This is really going to be a test of his coaching abilities. A lack of talent will never be an excuse. He arguably has the most talent in the division.

im guessing miami wouldn't take him but that doesn't mean he isnt going to be a good player.

That's interesting. Don't we already have a pair of OLB's in Hausmann and Appleget?

Not sure why you think that. Miami doesn't have a single DL or LB commit so far. Schwartz parents are from the midwest, which is why I think his finalists were Nebraska, Michigan and Missouri.

We actually play a LOT of 4 man fronts even though our base is a 3-4. I think in Chinander's defense there's a lot of flexibility. Trying to project where he ends up is fools gold anyway. The thought I've seen expressed is that he'll stay a pass rushing DE playing on passing downs at least to start out. A lot depends on how he matures. He could wind up being a strong side linebacker or full time 3-4 DE.

FSU and Florida don't offer everybody and they can be very selective right now. Schwartz may be viewed as a tweener right now that doesn't fit what they need. He's exactly what we need right now as a pass rushing DE. His dad was a beast with a super hot motor. I expect the same out of this kid.

I've heard they like Hausman at inside linebacker. Seems like they like to move kids inside for some reason.

Apparently they decided to add a linebacker after losing out on the defensive lineman out of Kansas. They must have took Schwartz over Tyler Martin, the 4 star Michigan decommit from Massachusetts. Martin was ready to commit at one point after his visit. They are probably set at LB but I'm not sure what is going on with OL and DL recruiting. Sounds like we've lost some ground on a couple kids we were after.
