No seniors, doesn’t include Dante Cephas who’ll be here soon, yet I keep reading about how they’re pursuing more in the transfer portal. While I get the lack or experience I find it hard to believe we don’t have a ton of talent at the position for this season. Is there that much concern about the current WR corps?

I think top WRs get a lot more NIL money than top DTs. I'll say 3-1.
The same holds true with NFL money. You have Aaron Donald at $31 million and drop to Grady Jarrett at $17 million at #10 in DT pay.

At WR, you have Tyreke Hill at $30 million then drop to DJ Moore at $21 million at #10.

That’s a hefty difference in pay for the top guys at each position.

Portal NIL value:

WR Travis Hunter $1.7m
DL Braden Fiske $323k

We are waiting on three of these 13 kids to hit the "on" switch. We have no speed burners yet although Saunders and Omari can run fast. We have no hands like glue kids like Godwin. We have no contested catch kid. And yet we have the livest arm in college football. I once enjoyed the whole re-build the team theme of college football each year, but I am so sick and tired of programs that can't carry our jocks being anointed blue blood status and dip **** supposed beat writers telling us we are not the creme de la creme of the NCAA football. I need a comfort animal. I am going to steal one at the airport.

Of the 13 (you can look above at the Football Drop down list and check out who is on the roster)

My opinion -Stahl, Spencer, Estrella won't see much PT. So, that is 3 less (and I don't think they are on scholarships), leaving 10 with meaningful PT opportunity.

Meiga has only seen real action on ST, and seems to be content with that. So, that leaves 9 with meaningful PT opportunity.
I think Ivey and Johnson will be mostly ST, as they wait for the guys ahead of them to move on. So, that leaves 7 with meaningful PT opportunity.

KLS, Wallace and perhaps Cephas will be your starting 3, since you play 3 WRs at a time. That leaves you with 4 to back them up. And they are a RS -FR (Saunders), RS-So (Clifford), So - Evans, Jr (without much production) McClain. None of these guys (perhaps with the exception of Evans) has shown/had a chance to prove themsevles.

Yeah, I could see needing an experienced receiver in the portal.

The scholly limit is another issue.

The talent gap from Donald to the rest of the field is more considerable then at WR though too.

Our former WR coach that recruited them is now coaching WR at Air Force where they throw the ball somewhere in the area of 3 times a game. Believe it.

Quantity is not the same thing as quality. To date, there are no Allen Robinsons or KJ Hamlers on the roster. Penn State needs game breaking difference makers. Collectively, the wide receiver room is average.

Hopefully, the running game will be dominant enough this season so that it elevates the production of both Allar and the WR's. I feel that's the only realistic formula that could get us to 10+ wins.

All position groups appear to be comparable to last year, or better. Allar being the wildcard.

Eager to see what Cephas can do.

I remember some Iowa and Wisconsin passing attacks being pretty effective with a focus on TEs. Let's hope Johnson isn't in big trouble.

I'm really hoping that Saunders breaks out. He's got the speed.

Did any of the current Penn State WR's enter the portal - i.e. showed up today? if not they missed the deadline. not sure how they can take anyone now.

Of the 13, 10 are on scholarship. You can carry 85 on schoolly and I believe up to 105 total. So, the three kids not on scholly don't factor into the rotation or against the scholly limit.

You can still get your extra DL and keep the number of WRs as it is.

Graduate transfer WRs (not sure if there are any) can portal at any time.
