The friction was he still had his name in the NBA draft and Ewing had announced to the media that McClung was definitely coming back.

Obviously that didn't sit well with McClung, even though there was no chance he was staying in the draft.

Why is that upsetting? Was he trying to make his return super dramatic and Ewing ruined his plans? I’m so confused by the whole internet clout thing.

I didn't want to throw the kid under the bus when he might come here. But the rumors of friction with staff were more than just with Ewing saying he was returning. Reportedly the coaching staff were unhappy with both starting guards and their attitudes. Both have since transferred. Still; I wish the kid the best and there are two sides to every story.
