"At Hawkins, Fuller faced Lewis, a five-star wideout, often, said Hawkins coach Mil’Von James. Fuller held his own, too.
“It was like an elite 7-on-7 camp,” James said of Fuller and Lewis squaring off. “Our practices were harder than most of our games.”
Fuller spent two seasons at Paramount (Calif.) High School, just north of Long Beach, before transferring to Hawkins prior to last season. Fuller caught 20 passes for 485 yards and had three interceptions. James said he put Fuller “on an island” and told him to shut down one side of the field. Over the course of the season, James said, Fuller might have given up “three or four catches.”
“He’s physical enough that he can take on taller wide receivers and he’s quick to cover the smaller guys,” James said. “And he’ll stick his nose in there and tackle, too.”
James said Fuller is one of the fastest players in California.
“He runs a 4.4-second flat 40,” James said of Fuller’s 40-yard dash time. “And he’s only getting faster.”"
