I think you are forgetting that nearly half of the original staff is no longer around, in no small part because of poor recruiting effort/results. So I think that those who questioned the recruiting prowess of the original staff at the time, were at least in part proved correct by Riley himself. Now the current staff, that seems to be a different story so far.

Most of the "paycheck" chatter was directed at Riley himself, a play on his age, no doubt.

"At Hawkins, Fuller faced Lewis, a five-star wideout, often, said Hawkins coach Mil’Von James. Fuller held his own, too.

“It was like an elite 7-on-7 camp,” James said of Fuller and Lewis squaring off. “Our practices were harder than most of our games.”

Fuller spent two seasons at Paramount (Calif.) High School, just north of Long Beach, before transferring to Hawkins prior to last season. Fuller caught 20 passes for 485 yards and had three interceptions. James said he put Fuller “on an island” and told him to shut down one side of the field. Over the course of the season, James said, Fuller might have given up “three or four catches.”

“He’s physical enough that he can take on taller wide receivers and he’s quick to cover the smaller guys,” James said. “And he’ll stick his nose in there and tackle, too.”

James said Fuller is one of the fastest players in California.

“He runs a 4.4-second flat 40,” James said of Fuller’s 40-yard dash time. “And he’s only getting faster.”"

Guys this staff can't recruit. They are just here to collect a paycheck.

Archie - really respect your posts .. but a couple of weeks ago surrounding the AA game you posted that all kinds of programs are offering these high profile recruits extra benefit$ .. in light of getting the nod from several high profile recruits are we now playing hardball on the recruiting trail $$ ??

Not correct. Three coaches are gone; it's unclear why Stewart is gone. The rest of the entire staff is intact and so is the entire support staff (save the most recent change with Gundy - which was an upgrade for him).

We don't know if Mike Riley is going to get us to the promise land; however, anyone that suggest he isn't here to do his freaking best to get us there is an idiot, or, has an axe to grind. Nebraska hasn't been in better hands since the day TO retired from coaching.

No idea. But it sure seems like this young man loves the Williams duo. Not surprising given that those two may be lighting **** on fire for us in the future. If we have a strong year next year, with those guys on the trail, watch the hell out. Love the direction right now. More, and more, and more talent. Keep it rolling.

Fuller posted a SPARQ score of 100.41 at The Opening Regional in Los Angeles in February. That included a 4.41-second 40-yard dash, 4.20-second 20-yard shuttle, 36-foot kneeling powerball toss and 32.1-inch vertical jump.
I'll bet he'll top out at 36+ VJ. The other numbers are strong!
