I know you're trying to be a smart alec here, but the answer is yes...sort of. I have no problem if a Buckeye fan said something to the tune of "Urban was able to build off of, and keep going, what Tressel did and we owe at least some of that team's success to the great job Tressel did laying the foundation it takes to keep winning at a high level".

My point is that Riley may have recruited the players, but it was Erickson's coaching that got the Beavers to 11-1 record winning a share of the conference title and a Fiesta Bowl win. Just like it was Urban's complete control of the Buckeyes that got them the title.

So Riley "sort of" gets the credit for Oregon States' 2-10 this year?

I know i posted this in a different thread like 6 months ago, but that 11-1 team played three teams with winning records. Just three. They went 2-1 against them. Just something to consider.

I know what you mean. Same kind of think happened at Nebraska. We were told we upgraded... oh never mind.
We DID upgrade in many areas. The record hasn't reflected it yet but there is NO doubt in my mind that we have an upgrade top to bottom in the coaching staff. Hopefully it shows up in recruiting and record over the next 2 years. We've discussed the reasons (not excuses) for the record and don't need to go down that path again.

I love the little boys that complain about their perceived "excuses". Seem to be the exact same mental midgets making up reasons for the previous staffs excuses for the past 7 years.

FWIW, I heard there's some guy calling himself BeaverTimCorvallis that was hoping Mike Riley would have been there one more year.

Take a French class and find out, blotard.

Husker online dictionary

Blotard - Name used by posters to insult other posters who question whether Mike Riley was a good hire and is doing a good job coaching. Blo refers to the previous Husker coach who was named Bo - Tard is slang for making fun of mentally disabled children. Many times this named is used when the poster is verbally beaten and cannot think of a logical reason to support his position. It is at this point that commonly the "Bo card" is used, and it is also at this point that name Blotard is commonly used

Turning OSU into a respectable program goes to Riley.

Turning OSU into a respectable program goes to Riley.

If you think only winning 53% of your games, losing to a Bad FCS school Sac State ( kind of blows the theory that he did ok with less as Sac State's budget is so small they probably took the Greyhound bus up to Corvallis to play the Beavers), he never had a season with 0, 1, 2 or 3 losses, never even winning a division title much less a conference title is respectable than you have a vastly different definition of respectability than mine. I will say this until Mike Riley walks out the door and goes back to the Oregon coast. He's 62 years old, he is too loyal to bad assistants, and he is not going to change at this point.

Clearly you're his spurned former lover. That's the only logical explanation for your continued diatribe. IF you were a Husker fan as you would seem to like to portray using a handle like WaSKER, you would quit your bashing at least during a crucial recruiting period. The only other options are that you are a fan of a competing team OR a complete dumbass.

Although the legend is that I single-handedly got rid of Stevie P., the reality is that none of us on a message board have any power. The idea that a recruit will not be "N" because of what Wasker says is ludicrous. If you want to mandate that people can only say nice words, maybe you belong on the Missouri board.

...but really you're only required to say nice words about "certain people". Others can/should be trashed.

I'm no fan of Bo, but I'm pretty sure even Youngstown State wouldn't hire Mike Riley after this season. It's very difficult to finish below .500 at a program like Nebraska. Even Indiana finished .500 this year against a more difficult schedule.

Why wouldnt a team hire a coach who was under .500. we did. Oh, wait! Nevermind.

You flatter yourself too much if you actually believe what you or anyone else who writes on this board actually effects recruiting. I don't think the kids care what a bunch of old geezers write.

Too funny writing I am not a Husker fan. dingle, Were you in the stands in Norman with the rest of us when Jeff Kinney scored the go ahead TD? I highly doubt it. I live 1600 miles from Lincoln, but the first thing anyone here would say about me is, "He's a Husker". I am the voice of support for the Huskers in a sea of Cougars and Huskies. I choose not to include my support for Mr. Riley. He was a bad hire.
