We wont have a new OC until after the season

Not surprised Shula was fired. We wont make a bowl so new OC will be the #1 priority along w portal/recruiting immediately after the Clemson game.

I hope we pick one based on the personnel SC tends to get and look for one who can coach that, rather than pick an OC and hope we can find players to fit him.

If we lose to Clemson - we'll be hiring a whole new staff, imho.

Right now the fans are sort of in "shock" mode at the Titanic sinking. When we get drubbed by A&M after a bye week, Beamers seat will be really hot. When we barely manage to beat Coastal, the heat level won't change much and when we lose to Clemson it will simply be too much. Fans will be clamoring for a change at HC and the new AD is very likely to go ahead and pull the trigger and bring in his own guy.

That's the way I see it playing out. Hiring back to back to back worst offensive coordinators in the universe will be Beamers legacy here, and ultimately what cost him his dream job.

Beamer is not losing his job this year even is SC goes 3-9. Will not happen.

Beamer probably has one more year to right the ship. How hard will it be to pull a great offensive mind into this mess? Knowing next year may be beamers last ride

Beamer isnt getting fired for this season. We truly should have been a 10-2 playoff team last year, the LSU game was a legendary robbery. We arent Bama or Ohio State, we dont fire coaches for one awful season, or even 2. Whether we like it or not thats all true.

We probably finish 4-8. Truly terrible. We are a program that should expect 7-5 to be the average season.

All that said, this OC hire will be his most important decision as USC coach. He cannot miss on this one. This will be the post-Sellers coach so he has to have that in mind.

If we go 5-7 or worse in 2026 then yes his job will be at risk. 7-5 or better and he will be here in 2027

That's conventional wisdom, but conventional wisdom does not rule the day any longer. When is the last time you had 2 head coaches who had won 70% of their games fired midseason in the same season?

With NIL and the portal, there is no long game anymore. It's all about right now. I believe the odds are strong that Beamer will be back. But if the slide continues, our AD may well read the landscape and pull the trigger. He may indeed see the futility of trying to hire an OC for a coach who will unquestionably be on the hot seat next season. And Beamer WILL be on a scorching hot seat next season. No debate about that. If this AD is thinking strategically, he may surmise that Beamer's odds of landing a quality OC to come work in a potentially one-year gig are quite slim and decide the smartest move is to start the rebuild now.

I was on a YouTube chat last night with TBS insiders. Consensus was Beamer's definitely coming back after this season but said 6 wins next year or worse probably gets him fired. Pressure's heating up on Shane. Also said buyout amount is no issue for the school even right now.

I was talking to my brother last week who is a member of the Insiders Forum. During our conversation, he said that one particular insider said that if Beamer loses to Clemson, he's gone. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, but this particular insider has gotten wind of big stories (OU and Texas to the SEC a year before it was announced and the piece on Mainieri for example). So, if he's reporting that Beamer's gone if we lose to Pickens U, then I believe it.

Choice of the OC would be better served after the season as there will be a lot of changeover with all the new head coaches being hired.

Anybody's really speculating. We just don't know what Donati is going to do. I don't think anyone can be definitive that his job is safe, no matter what, in this current environment.

Ever noticed that the 3 OC’s Beamer brought in, that none of them were working as an OC when hired? Wonder if he ever asked why.

The last two we’re primarily NFL guys. I don’t know why but coaching often doesn’t translate between college and pros, we’ve seen it plenty of times. It scales more so from high school to college and certainly within the levels of college ball but not pro and college.

Beamer needs to find a dude who is currently showing he knows what he is doing as a college OC, and then stay out of his way.

I doubt he finds a suitable or proven OC. It will be a has been or someone who is labeled as an up and comer. And they will have to work with QB that haven’t proven themselves. Next year won’t be better. Start looking for your new coach now. Due to ticket fiasco I’m sure next year is my last year anyway.

Yes. If you look to the G5 ranks or FCS, there are plenty of decent OCs out there.

That confirms what I have and others have been saying: The USC "powers" have accepted and settled for mediocrity. At least the perception of others is what I have been saying. What they are saying is if Beamer goes 7-5 in his 6th season, he gets a "pat on the back, attaboy Shane". I would be VERY surprised and disappointed in Jeremiah Donati if he tolerated such at that point of Beamer's tenure here. And I suspect so would the man who hired Donati: Dr. Amiridis.

That's why I think the Shula firing was preemptive.
