It would get tax dollars for the government which is what private industry would currently consider bankrupt based on the unfunded pension liability. It would also take that profit out of criminals coffers and put it into those taxable businesses, or better yet if people were allowed to grow their own it would essentially kill organized crime in the state. Weed being illegal is barely stopping anyone from getting it, and those that can't find it are just ending up with something harder instead (like Meth).

Studies in Washington and Colorado indicate that there is been a major impact on the Mexican drug cartels by decriminalizing pot in their states. There are also indications of decreased hard drug use in those states.

Did you see this opinion piece that ran in the Herald-Leader last week? Interesting stuff.

Among other things, it seems to me that Mr. Rapier should've disclosed how much money his agency receives annually solely for marijuana eradication. And that's putting it kindly.

It would be interesting to see a reputable Lexingtonian respond. I'm sure the LHL would publish it.

I had not smoked pot in years and years.

Imagine my shock when I did resume consumption and found out all the stoners had switched to the metric system!

And proficiently too!

Maybe this is the first step to finally getting Amurica to adopt the metric system. If pot heads can understand grams vs ounces then why not the average soccer mom?
