Murphy Bulldogs vs christ school. Thoughts, predictions, comments. I personally will attend not sure who my Knights play that week but this will be “ must see “ matchup. Go Knights

I think that it will simply come down to QB play. Christ School has a senior D1 prospect in Navy Shuler and Murphy will be starting a sophomore with three games of varsity experience by that time. I'll actually give Murphy an advantage on line play, but ultimately Shuler picks their secondary apart. Christ School 42, Murphy 28.

Don’t know if I agree with that. Christ school’s line could be one of the best in the state at any level. We’ll see how it all plays out. Should be interesting. Robbinsville played CS last year in week 4, has our schedule changed ? Have we dropped CS ?

Quarterback play will have absolutely nothing to do with this game. We all know whats going to happen..This will come down to secondary play for Murphy.

Quarterback play will have nothing to do with the game, but secondary play will ... that's like saying that kicking will have nothing to do with it, just the number of field goals hit.

Should be a great game I hope it's on my 40 that week, would really like to see a Heritage Murphy match up at some point not sure if playing Hayesville and Rosman in weeks 4 and 5 will really help us come playoff time.

Sadly I will say CS takes it. Murphy lost tremendous skill and experience to graduation. They will have to replace it the old fashion way, through backups stepping up and JVs moving up. CS brings more back and no telling who they will add by way of transfers (already added Mintz). However, I for one will be pulling for the Dogs.

It's a given that Navy will place his throws in the bread basket. It's a given that CS receivers will catch it. This game is ALL up to Murphys secondary to stop it.

As much as CS is losing, I see this game being fairly close. They may bring in some more, time will tell, but losing Robinson, Cobb, and Gibbs leaves some huge voids that you don’t easily replace. White is back at receiver but that’s about it. Will Alcime take over at RB or will they find another stud to replace Gibbs? Possibly their biggest loss is the other Shuler..solid at LB as they come.

Nobody in their right mind mind would leave Murphy to play at CS. More likely to get a ring at MHS, CS gets punished in the championship game when they make it.

I don't know if you come watch a kid play a different sport if that's all your level of interest is. Or if you go after freshmen for that.

I like the kid great kid great player but not many if hardly any kids from the smc in football get acc offers and I have not heard of him having other college offers. If he was getting a bunch I would assume people from Murphy would be talking it up.

I think you're confused, they're talking about Hayesville's Jake McTaggart, not Murphy's Slade McTaggart. Jake McTaggart is definitely a D1 level tight end prospect if he keeps playing, big enough and athletic enough. The odds of J McTaggart playing true D1 (meaning not WCU level) college athletics are a lot stronger in football than basketball unless he grows at least another couple inches.

Slade has an offer to play D3 ball at Brevard, will probably get a few more offers around that level. Which given his small size is about what was expected. Great high school player and great young man though.

This news about Mugharbil and J McTaggart shouldn't surprise anyone. It's been obvious for a year or two now that those two kids are the best hopes for major D1 football that this conference has seen in a long time.

Mugharbil is one of only 2-3 kids I've seen at Murphy in the last 20 years that had the size and athletic requirements (as well as talent) to play at that kind of level. The other obvious one was Devantae Sudderth, but he only played football one year and grades would've been an issue. But Coach C said had he played two years he would've gotten ACC and SEC looks. Watching him in practice it was clear what kind of insane natural ability he had for someone that hadn't played football. Josh Cook is the other one that would've gotten a lot of attention had he played more than one injury riddled year.

In hindsight you could probably put Tyrea Allen in there but Tyrea was raw coming out of high school, would've had to have went the JUCO route first to land at that level.

I remember watching the 2010 state finals on TV and the announcers talking about Gentry telling them Sudderth was new to football but was "the same type of athlete as Carl Pickens." Pretty high praise.

Do you think Murphy will not get any transfers?

Murphy will get the transfers they need. Just like normal
What transfers did Murphy get in 2018? 2017? 2016? 2015? name them.

The reality is Murphy hasn't gotten a transfer in football that made any kind of impact during their time at the school since 2014 when the Clapsaddle and Posey families came back to Cherokee County Schools. And I say came back because they were all from Cherokee County to begin with.

Should be a good game. A good test for the young secondary. Need that Dline getting some pressure.
