Lamar has really stepped his game up. He is finally looking like the NFL corner everyone thought he could be when he was recruited.

I think we've gotten some breaks this year in terms of quarterbacks missing open receivers and receivers dropping easy passes, but overall the D looks a lot better. Time will tell if it's actually better or if we've just benefitted from playing bad offenses.

You obviously didn't watch our back 7 play in 2005...can't believe that our fans can overlook the fact that we've averaged 8 pbs a game, all of them clean. EIGHT!

Been watching football for a long time. Not taking anything away from our CBs as they are doing a great job in pass coverage. But the amount of holding and grabbing and contact that the refs allow these days is a BIG difference from what used to get called as pass interference. Just look at Bootle's defense on Shenault last week. That would have been first and goal in the NFL 15 years ago.

I honestly think we have a reputation as a good secondary. You get the benefits of the call when you are regularly on time with your breaks on the ball. Same thing goes for Wisky's oline. They do not get called for holding because if a play is a toss up between holding and not, they get the benefit. Thse calls are bang bang calls and so refs tend to fall back on precedent more than eyeballs. Refs watch game tape, they know the patterns of a team and how they are coached. If we are always early or guys aren't ever turning around to find the ball then they will call it. The Shenault play was a miss but it might be that Shenault deals out as much punishment on routes as the dbs so they let it go...I mean he pushes off on almost every play because he is so strong.

it has NEVER been easier to be a receiver in professional and collegiate football than in 2019

I’d still like to see him get in and help more. A couple of plays last night would’ve been stopped sooned if he wasn’t assuming that the tackle was made. Get in there and assist on the tackle even if you think your teammate has him wrapped up.
