His substitution strategy didn't rattle Indiana's head coach? I bet their preseason ranking got a big boost from beating us in the bowl game, but you see how much that means now.

Convinced that’s about all it was. Gamecocks looked to be about the hottest team in the nation and that’s what the voters went with. Nevermind the facts that SC did what it usually does in bowls and that results of non-playoff bowls have largely been irrelevant for a very long time. Bielema should have stayed at Wisconsin. He couldn’t hack it at Arkansas and peaked last season in his Illinois tenure- but yet the only thing that brought real attention to it was the bowl win.

In the Pinkel era Mizzou had an annual game vs. Illinois in St. Louis until they cried uncle after losing a bunch. My favorite was the year Illinois was told they had to get rid of Chief Illiniwek - essentially a white kid from Chicago who put on native American clothing and danced around like an idiot. (In case you were wondering, there was no native American tribe called the Illini.) I was glad they got rid of the fool, but many/most Illini fans liked him to the point of even being a little mad about losing him.

That year we got some amusing taunts from some Illinois fans on the way into the game. My friend responded. "By the way, what did y'all do with your barefoot dancin' injun?" The mic drop had not yet been invented, but they were too stunned to respond. It was perfect.

Yes, at least our suckfest this year is overshadowed by other issues like Clemson's bad season, Belichick's awful season and other issues.
