All looked good last night. Yeah they played frosted cupcakes but they took care of business and looked like competent, confident football programs and won going away. Us against UL-L last year? Not so much.

This is an incredibly important year for Stoops and I hope he knows it. He may be safe no matter the results, but poor results put us even farther behind our closest rivals and schools we should be wayyyy ahead of in football. At the very least we need to go out there against Southern Miss and play a good football game, win or lose, because it's not that hard, apparently.

Indiana's offense is one of the better half teams in the country. They should merge with Vandy's defense.

He may not due to the extension, or he may not care. His job is apparently not on the line, regardless of results. I can think of a few coaches who rode that horse for a long time.
You don't think he may be thinking further down the line than next season? Just because he is safe next season, I assume he knows he needs his team to perform well so that he can get , you know, raises, extensions, bonuses, good recruiting classes. His job is not on the line for this year but i can assure you, he cares!

Very very trollish post. Why don't you talk to some UT fans and ask them how it is playing a team right out of the gate that's isn't a cupcake. While Southern Miss isn't a powerhouse they probably won't be a team we won't struggle with.
And while the three teams you named all had impressive wins the level of competition definitely has something to do with it. I haven't looked up the ratings but I'm very certain they all played teams in the bottom tier of the FBS. It's kinda hard not to look good when you play someone that weak.

To be fair, Charlotte, FIU and Rice aren't anywhere close to ULL. And not in the same zipcode as Southern Miss.

Charlotte: We steam rolled Charlotte last year also, 58-10. Didn't win a conference game last year, went 2-10. Only D-1 team they beat was GSU by 3 (GSU went 0-12)

FIU: Lost their last 2 games by a total of 115-7 last year by 2 teams in their own conference. And struggled against Charlotte.

Rice: WKU smacked them 49-10 at Rice last year. Lost to UTSA, UTEP, and even Southern Miss killed them 65-10.

These are the 3 worst C-USA teams. We are playing one of the, if not the best C-USA team. UK would steam roll any 3 of those teams also. Not saying UK is better than UL, WKU, or IU...but comparing those games is like a team thinking they should smack Alabama because another team was able to smack Vanderbilt.

Soooooo . . . you think because he has an extension he might not . . .
1. Make the players lift weights as hard?
2. Call plays that matter as much?
3. Call recruits back as often?
4. Go for it on 4th down behind by 3 with 2 minutes left?

Do you see how silly this sounds? You really think the coach is not trying to bust his butt to get this thing turned around and doesn't care more than anybody if it does? He has his whole career invested in the outcome of his job here, but I think he wants it as much for everybody else as he does himself.

Not sure how any of us can say Louisville looked good by beating Charlotte by 56 pts. Our last win was against Charlotte by 48 pts., held them to fewer, but then we lost the next week in sad fashion by 14 pts. to . . . Louisville. Main thing - and sort of like ttu/uk implied above - is Southern Miss would likely beat Charlotte by a similar score.
