But predictable I suppose, another second half letdown due to lack of depth and lack of players who can create shots when it matters.

Time to turn the page from this season. Onward and upward. Let's hope the freshmen are good!

Last nights fade down the stretch was definitely do to lack of depth. Once Lindsey went out...

Yep. With BMac's shoulder hurt he couldn't really shoot from more than 15 feet, and so Lindsey was our only scorer out there. And PSU knew that, unfortunately. Gaines did not have his best game either. Think we should have tried to get the ball inside more to Pardon (and maybe Benson who played fairly well) in the post to take some of the offensive pressure off of our guards. Though we had a few turnovers on entry passes, so maybe we were trying to do that, just not succeeding. Too many forced shots late in the shot clock.

Oh well...

Hope NU never again goes with only 12 schlorship players.

I think it was less about the total number than it was the injuries. Rap, Ash and Law were out. Turner is redshirting. BMac was playing hurt. Falzon, in my opinion, wasn't himself all season. Then Lindsey fouled out with 3:15 left. It would have been nice to have one more guard, certainly, but I don't think many teams can absorb that much attrition, outside of Michigan State.

Yep, this is extremely well said. I brought a few non-NU friends to the game last night, and I felt like when they were asking about our team I was just constantly saying "oh well he's hurt" or "this guy is out".

They asked about our best players... Vic best all-around player, out. BMac best offensive player, but now limited with his shoulder hurt. Lindsey best scorer, we still had him. And then Ash Rap. Falzon came in and I had to qualify - he might be good but all he can do right now is shoot, can't move much because he's been hurt all season too.

When Lindsey went out with his 5th foul (hard to tell in the arena but both #4 and 5 on him seemed dicey) I knew it was over.

That said, we had issues before all the injuries, but they did put the nail in the coffin of a tough season. Alas...

If Falzon can get healthy enough to train this offseason and come into November fresh, he *may* have some Shurna in him. He had a nice hard take to the basket yesterday. But that's a big if.

All true but still don't see anything positive about not using all of your scholarships.

I'm with you. You only have 13, you should use them all. I'm just saying that the sheer number of guys in street clothes on the bench had more to do with their struggles than any one guy they didn't have.
