Then we brought in the bench and it immediately went to sh*t.... yikes that was an ugly stretch.

At this point if we're scoring, he's not essential. That's not to say he can't help.

But then there are nights when nobody seems able to score - on those nights, he's essential.
And yet he has still been planted on the bench for those nights. Something is up the last couple weeks.

Ash is our best defenseman. We lost a couple games early on by having Brown in there. The Georgia Tech game was the difference. Ash is second on the team, behind only Mac in assists/ steals/ turnover ratio. Just check out stats on NBC sports. Also,Ash is shooting better than Lindsey from three point land this year. I was the only guy on here who has stuck with Ash from the beginning of the season! Ash and Gaines are the difference makers this past month.

That was indeed an abrupt u-turn. Fortunately they gritted it out and got it done. Fabulous night for Vic.
Yeah. Some of them played better in the second half. Benson still too slow though did not get benefit of doubt on those foul calls. Gaines shows flashes. Falzon I think we all know is not all there but with the zone we can hide him some on defense and he can be serviceable. Ash is mostly just good as a placeholder for 5 mins a game.

I would love to know what Brown is doing or not doing in practice to continually justify Ash getting playing time. Ash has had one good game during B1G season - the first one against the Goofs. Last night he plays 8 minutes, scores 3 points with no assists, is a -9 on the night with the score being 13-22 Goofs in only 10 possessions! 22 points in 10 possessions...I can't imagine Brown could do worse than that.

I bet you will find out before June.

Ya KNOW the old Saying, "Best DEFENSE is a good Offense"......Dang!!!!
What we seem to be forgetting is he contributed quite a bit to our tourney run last year. The fact we've been as bad as we have been and we all know he can score means something has to be going on. Even if he's leaving he's too good to not play any minutes.

I'm increasingly thinking that Lou's implicit suggestion that we may find out at end of season is correct. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.

The thing that puzzles me even more is that Brown's body language is great. He is engaged with teammates, cheers enthusiastically from the bench, and jokes around comfortably. I know he had some kind of injury early in the year - don't know if there is still something lingering or what.

Yeah, I've considered that too... some sort of lingering injury is the other potential explanation.

It seems pretty clear that both Brown and Falzon have been plagued all season by physical issues.

Well Falzon yes very clear, but Brown I think looks like he is moving fine to me when he does play? Maybe it's a lingering upper body injury though that doesn't impact movement.

It’s really is lack of defense! Guys just shoot over Brown. Also, he gets stuffed on layups and turns the ball over a good deal. Steal, I like Brown. I just feel he would do better on a run and gun team. The BT teams, like Wisconsin and NU, focus on defense .

Guess nothing new of any consequence today, just a lot of blank space from a member I ignore.
