A group of 8 female athletes has appealed the settlement already, claiming the back pay portion ignores Title IX. Their attorney filed several amicus briefs while the settlement was being presented to the court, and no doubt had this suit ready to go.

This puts the $2.8 Billion in back payments on hold, and could screw up the whole deal. If Title IX means women get equal compensation, then former male players who opted in will complain they were mislead on their pay. And pretty much the same goes for current players.

“Pay the players fairly! They generate the revenue! They deserve and equal share!!”
