If I'm not mistaken, Carey is the only guy in the group so far that is considered OAD?

I liked when Vernon was asked the first thing K said to him and it was "you're pretty tall, huh".

I also like that we will have a guy named Boogie on the team.

I see Moore at the 2 not the 3. We're kind of loaded at the 3-5 positions, esp, if Hurt comes. If Bolden leaves Moore could play the 3.

Technically it’s doesn’t matter, we’re “positionless”

Positionless largely only applies to defense and the ability to guard multiple positions. It's what allowed us to basically switch every screen this year. Not having positional versatility is also what killed our defense in 18. We had 2 clear front court players and 3 clear guards. I don't expect Moore to play much outside of the 3 because we don't really have anyone else we really want to play there unless Baker is a lot better than I think he is.

I see Moore at the three and hope we don’t see him at pg.
not that he probably couldn’t for a couple minutes but there is Ellis and Goldwire that can play that spot for the same amount of time.
Baker playing between the 3/4 will be his positions.
There is just to many unknowns at this time with the roster unsettled.

Carey seems to be a capable shooter. That should really help too. Bagley and Carter never quite got there. If one of them shot a little better-even mid range- they would have been unstoppable. Would have really helped alleviate some of our pimco sistency from 3.

If Carey can shoot and put the ball on the floor effectively, it allows us to play him with Bolden or Javin. That would really help our rotation and flexibility.

RJ Hampton pretty much confirmed that if Tre leaves he’s coming. Point guard is on lock for next year

Sophomore in college is much better than senior in high school. Please come back Tre. Nothing against RJ I just want some experience. If a 6-8 Cam can play the 2, why not 6-5 Moore?

If Hurt and Vernon Carey is Duke's frontcourt next season, you guys will be explosive on the offensive end if they can stay out of foul trouble. But will get killed on the interior against teams defensively, especially on the high pick and roll. I see alot of zone next season for Duke..

Hampton will have problems with major D1 physicality next season, but he will be a nice piece overall. You guys just gotta sign a reliable 2 guard over the summer..

We’ll be ok at the 2. We just needed a point guard. We will have shooters

I've heard RJ Hampton really wants to move up. He ain't gonna sit around and wait for Tre to leave... if he's waiting on anything, it's more likely he's waiting to see what players would be around him, and if he's handed the keys to the corvette. As it is, Andrew Slater just picked Hampton to sign with Memphis.

As far as Matthew Hurt, many say that he and his family have been very tight-lipped. While I do feel good about our chances, I'm certainly not 100% sold. One thing that does make me feel better, however, is that 8 of his peers at the McDonald's game made predictions on where Hurt would sign. Every single one said Duke, with the exception of UNC recruit, Armando Bacot. I feel like he would open up a little more to his peers than the media.

If Tre stays, then I expect Hurt to go to Duke.

He just said he's waiting for Tre's decision. If we get Tre it doesn't matter what happens with RJ. Tre over RJ all day this year.

We are going to need a really good class again for 20/21. Is it too much to ask for to get Tre this upcoming year and Hampton for the next?

Vernon is a bit lazy on defense I have heard. I was listening to the Devils Den podcast a few days ago and they were also talking about how Hurt is very bad defensively if Duke is able to land Hurt. Our defense won’t be nearly as good as this previous season it sounds like, but at least we should be a lot better along the perimeter.

Vernon’s defensive trouble are a bit overstated. When he started getting into shape, he was fine defensively. He’ll take it seriously at Duke. Hurt is the one I worry about on D. Hate to use the comparison, but they’re so similar. Think Ryan Kelly as a frosh.

With Hurt it’s sometimes focus, too. He just doesn’t defend all the time.

In stature, he’s similar to Ryan. But Hurt’s offensive game is very advanced compared to each other as freshmen. Hurt can average in the teens as a first-year player.

I think he will based on necessity. Had RK come up during this era of college ball, I think he’d a candidate to score double digits and be a OAD too. When he played with Wall in AAU ball, he was a terror.

Hurt is and can be a really good shot blocker. Laterally he still struggles.

Nah. He’ll start and play close to 30 a game. I mentioned it above in response to dj, but if Ryan played in high school right now, he’d be a OAD candidate and probably would have played significant minutes as a freshman at Duke or whatever school he chose.

Been saying it since the season ended. Next year we have a chance to be better than this year. A lot of options and overall probably a better put together team. The pieces seem to all fit
