Remember this hof coach roy williams is a unc fan first before he's their coach and he thinks as a typical unc fan thinks. He has stated in words similar that there is no bigger tar heel fan than roy williams. He whines all the time. Always complaining. Sometimes I really do think he is a thr regular. Remember a few years ago when Clemson had that pretty good team and I believe it was the NIT year for unc. He said I wish everybody had to play Clemson twice when that year Duke only played them once. forget the players name that decomitted from unc a few years back when hof coach roy williams went after him in his book. Have you ever heard Coach K say anything about Joey Beard or Kris Humphries ? Hasn't complained about Clemson since. And then there's the time when he pointed to a Presbyterian fan and had him escorted out by security for yelling during a tar heel free throw. I could go on and on about him and his foot in the mouth comments but it would be longer than a dsouther. Yes you should be a fan of the team you coach and no doubt Coach K is a fan and loves Duke and always will but he is Duke's coach first and acts that way. OFC

Roy is very insecure when it comes to coach K! This is very obvious and how about Roy whining on tv about the calls being in favor of the other team. He was interviewed and was making excuses. I can't remember which game it was, it might had been the DUke game or the championship game. I thought it was Steat from THR doing the interview.

I think Wendell still comes to Duke. He and Trent have discussed a deal to play together and Harvard isn't on trent's list so the one school they have in common is Duke.

Definitely. I've always wanted this kid for our team. He's been #1 on my wish list for a very long time. I just feel real good about him.

Gary reminds me a lot of Andre Dawkins. That's part compliment, part concern.

He has tremendous shooting ability, range, and great lift on his shots very similar to Andre.

Also similar, I see a bit of a lack of quickness and lateral movement, that could make him struggle getting his own shot, and struggle defensively. Now I think he is slightly quicker than Andre, so that's good, hopefully he is a lot quicker and creating his own shot and D aren't a struggle.

Christ, just read an article where Carter's mother says She and his father were blown away by Harvard and that they hope he chooses to go there. Wow. Won't let me do the old copy and paste on that site.

Duke is no Harvard but it's also no state college either. Putting yourself on a path to a Duke degree with a straight path to the NBA seems like a win win to me

He has a better handle, is a better distributor, and is a little quicker. His mentality is also better, but obviously Andre had some circumstances that changed his situation.

The other part is that Trent has been the alpha dog a bit. Andre was always second fiddle (he had Steven Pledger in high school and AAU). Gary plays like an alpha too, but he proved in USA ball that he could play a role as well. The kid would be very nice to have in a Duke uni. Very nice indeed.

To me, he'll be more Austin with a more reliable jumper.

That came out last week before the visit to Duke. We're fine in this recruitment....and trust me, Mrs. Carter loves her some Duke.

Trent is also known to dig in and commit to the defensive side of the ball. Many recruiting gurus comment on his willingness and desire (and ability) to defend. Dawkins never bought in there.

Any chance of a Bradley Beal type, that was my high end hope?

I don't think he's the shooter Beal is/was. Beal was on the Ray Allen track there for a minute. Gary is a tier below. Rashad McCants if you will (as much as I hate using that comparison).

McCants could score the ball. He was a gifted player. I think Beal is an overrated shooter personally. I never really bought in to the Ray Allen comparison. Too inconsistent/streaky IMO. I also think Beal was twice the defender Allen was.

I think Trent compares favorable to Beal. JMO.

I can buy that. I guess Beal did get his offer after all.

Trent looks bigger than I thought he was when standing next to Tatum.

Mark my words. The spin is already starting at THR that K will undermine Carter's parents who are "pushing for Harvard."
