These are the top 2 match ups in my humbled opinion. DGN vs HC is the premier match up in the Silver and HS vs DGS is the Golds.

Hinsdale South (1-1) @ Downers Grove South (1-1)
Downers Grove North (2-0) @ Hinsdale Central (2-0)

DGS lost last year to Hinsdale South for the 1st time in 14 years 7-0, they are 0-2 right now. You know they are coming with all they have, they cannot lose 2 years in a row to Hinsdale South and start off 0-3. I think South beats them, won't be a blowout but I think they handle them 28-13.

I haven't seen DGN or HC play since last year so I'm not sure, if anyone can fill us in on that match up it would nice.

HC is an upgraded team from last year, and DGN seems to be in a down year. I'd guess HC by 24.

With all that HC lost from last year (QB, Top WR, top RB) and beating a seemingly ovrrated O'fallon and DGS, not sure how you conclude they are upgraded this year over last? I know they have huge OL, but that is fairly normal.

Can you provide some insight?

I'm comparing the team on the field this year compared to last years team. This year they field a better offense, and a better defense. This year's team will not give up with 4 minutes to go in the 4th. This group will give GW a good fight, unlike last year's team.

Tough night for DGN, and HC is off to a good start this season. Next week gets even tougher for DGN when GW comes to town.

I'm not sure it's accurate to say HC gave up last year. There were a lot of injuries, and I think it was a coaching call, and it made no sense to continue given the score. Look forward to seeing HC at Duchon.

All I can say is never turn your back on Nico Gagliano. That kid is an all state linebacker of the highest order. Certainly an enormous weapon for GW and changes the momentum as well as anyone in Illinois.

Asking to stop play with 4 min to go in the 4th qtr is giving up, but that said, HC will storm into Glen Ellyn in a few weeks, and if GW does not find an answer to their offensive line play by then, then I'd expect HC to win. GW has a new offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, and they are struggling right now.

He is a stud of the highest order. GW defense is getting better and better each week.

I will say first halves have not been as good as they could have been. That said, 13 for 14 passing yesterday is not struggling. West is not as one dimensional as many have thought.

The support is appreciated but 91 points in last two games is as many as GW has ever put up In consecutive weeks.

I agree that West is not (nor have they ever been) one dimensional. But the o line is struggling, and if you watch the sideline, it's obvious that the new OC is not having much fun this season. But, maybe things get going next week.

That's true, but they usually score most of those in the first half, and play (develop) other players in the second half. Much of their prior season success on offense was due to very good coaching/ADJUSTMENTS in the first half. This year, things are slow and at times confused, as happened yesterday when GW was flagged for illegal substitution, which was a coaching error. I'm not saying they are in trouble right now, just pointing out what I think is their "thing to work on" this week.

They do have stuff to work on and to lay off the penalties. When they do adjust they play incredibly well. It will be interesting to see how they progress.

Not to be picky, but the 2012 West State champ team put 49 on Willowbrook and 49 on LT in weeks 2 and 3 that year.

Your point is valid that West is putting up big numbers but to large extent, the defense is putting them in short field situations after 5 INTs and a few fumbles. and the D actually did score one against HS.

The problem is that they have been playing on a sloppy track every week. Duchon needs the three week rest while West plays at DGN and LT. I really feel for DGN, who appears to be a bit thin this year, because West is going to come in hot for their first turf game of the year. Over under on West pts is 50
