Good start, then we go to the bench and the result is predictable. There are 3 guys on our bench who should never be allowed on the court at the same time. They have been momentum-killers in every game.

WVU up 5 at half on Gonzaga with awesome defense, rebounding and, surprisingly, free throw shooting. Oscar, even more surprisingly, has ONE personal and 10 points. Timmes, Zags' hotshot scorer, has ONE field goal. Suggs, other great player, went out with injured ankle. I hate to see that but it has to help WVU. If they can keep up their effort in 2nd half.

Oscar needs to stop playing like a 3rd grader in a Saturday basketball league that has four games going on the same floor.

There is ZERO excuse for ANY player old enough to consistently tie his shoes to be in foul trouble this often. This level of stupid play isn't acceptable from a role player at East Fairmont High, nevermind a preseason All B12, Malone watch, wannabe NBA draft pick.

Get your act together and play like you have something functioning between your ears.

Just not smart enough or good enough. Opportunity knocked and this team didn't answer. One team knows how to win, the other knows how to shoot itself in the foot.

Will you STFU, please? We took #1 to the wire, had some HORRIBLE freaking calls against us, and you are bitching like this? You are a f**king miserable person. Go to Pitt. Thank you.

Horrible calls? Really? What game were you watching? Yes, had a chance to beat No. 1, with one of their top players hurt for much of the game, and instead of taking advantage of the situation we found a way to shoot ourselves in the foot with stupid play. Again.

Few bad calls late in game hurt WVU, which made 81.8% (!!!) of its free throws (27-33). Culver had 5 of the 6 misss, but he also had 18 points, 15 rebounds and played a critical role throughout the game, even with 4 personal fouls on him.

This against a Gonzaga team that has been steamrollering its opponents.

These 2 teams may meet again in the Final Four.

WVU had FIVE players with double-digit scoring!

It WVU, #11 going in, with be ranked higher next week after this game.

Usually don't rip on refs because they make mistakes just like players and coaches. But you put an elbow into WVU guy's forehead for 4 stitches and it's a foul on the victim? If WVU keeps playing this tough on defense and rebounding and shoots an amazing 80% or better from the free throw line this could be an awesome season for Huggins Heroes!

It's laughable and should be publicly criticized how terrible this staff is at coaching offense and drawing up ways to score.

This will be a monumental waste of talent because Huggins refuses to accept basketball changed 7-8 years ago.

You can have a "back to basket" bigman but you better have a guy at the pf position who can stretch the floor and shoot 3s to open up lanes and create spacing.

Huggins; Nah we good

We just talked about this a few days ago. This team is still learning to play as a team. They are still finding their go to guys. Obviously Oscar is having a sophomore slump early. But we are only 4 games in and we have not played one easy team. And we just played the #1 team tougher than anyone. Does anyone not think we will be better ten games from now as these guys get used to playing again and get some time together. When the newbies start to get used to playing as well, this will be a deep team. Excited for Cottrill to come in and able to hit the shots that Oscar cannot yet. As they get more comfortable, it will get better and this team will be hard to handle. Still need a back up point guard as McCabe is not the answer.

Example #1 = McNeil's forehead foul.

WVU was winning the game until Oscar fouled out, Gabe fouled out and Culver got his 4th. Game completely changed.

I'm actually really not that upset that they lost. They had the number 1 team in the country that had been steamrolling top contention up to tonight, dead to rights. Granted, Gonzaga was without its top prospect for a portion of the game, but WVU was also hampered with "extenuating" circumstances that cut its best players' minutes as well.

But most of these players have been together for at least two years. "Learning to play together" doesn't hold water. They simply let this game get away from them mostly due to dumb play....but I'm still very optimistic about this team. I'm more in the Brad Howe camp that Caridi's.

Oscar was having a great game until Kissinger got whistle happy.

I still think we are missing the leadership part that we got from Haley and the two WV kids last year. Those guys were not great players, but had been through enough to calm some of these guys down. Once we get someone to do that, to be the leader, this team will be really good.

I think we played great!! If not for foul trouble we would’ve won easily!! We need to play that hard every game and we got a real shot at something special!!

It would help if McNeil could start hitting some 3's. 8 for 29 on the season (.276 %.)

Let's see: WVU out-rebounded the #1 team in the nation, had a higher 3-point percentage than the #1 team in the nation, shot 82% from the free throw line against the #1 team in the nation, held the top scorer to ONE field goal in the first half on the #1 team in the nation, had 2 of its 3 bigs foul out, Oscar with 7 1/2 minutes to go, against the #1 team in the nation, led the game for more minutes than the #1 team in the nation, had to use 2 freshmen because the bigs fouled out against the #1 team in the nation, and lost by 5 points to the #1 team in the nation that demolished its previous opponents by a wide, wide margin. What was the complaint again? You watched YOUR team show you that it may be a Final Four team. What was the complaint again?

WV played really well. Not sure that Gonzaga is #1, but we'll find out when they play Baylor. I'm going with Baylor. It should be quite the battle between WV and Baylor in the B12.

McCabe has no confidence and has turned into a major liability when he's on the floor. I'm not sure why he's seeing playing time down during crunch time. Maybe they didn't have anybody else, but he seems to be playing scared, or maybe he's simply not that good. Either way, it's hurting them at times. That, and stupid fouls.

He's avg 9 minutes a game and played 8 last night because of McBride and Taz foul trouble. I don't think Huggins intended on playing him more than 4 or 5 minutes. He needs to transfer out and would not surprise me if Huggins ask him to. Either he takes that advice or not.

Oscar makes some of the dumbest fouls I've ever seen. Once he and gabe went out that game was over. Culver with 4 fouls goes light in loafers and quits defense all together. It's hard for Culver to understand why he gets no calls with players draping al over him when he shoots.

McNeil needs to learn not to pass up open shots and quit taking contested shots. Taz needs more minutes but he as well makes poor fouls.

McBride getting tired in games by logging to many minutes and then mistakes start happening.

This team is not as deep as believed as the young guys are not ready. Not having the 14 OOC games the normally get is showing up in different ways.

Mark Few did a nice job at half time getting into officials head. Which is what a good coach does. The whistles on WVU started early and fast limiting the plays WVU could run. They became timid and made poor decisions after that.

It's a long season in basketball. I don't know if Gonzaga finishes #1 or not but they will most likely be top 4 due to their weaker conference.

Zags will find out Saturday just how good they really are as Baylor is as talented with better guards than WVU and are right on Zags heels and just as experienced.

WELL, WVU DID HAVE 2 OF 3 BIGS ON BENCH FOR FOULING OUT SO HUGGINS HAD TO PUT SOMEBODY IN THE GAME.
