Smith got out-coached again. Smh. All that talent including Harrell and couldn't pull it off.
Right, they simply got out played too! It was a good game! Way to go Bulldogs!
I'd like to see my Springers have you guys on our schedule one day!
Highland Springs vs Westfield! That would draw a big crowd!

That would be doubtful I’m sure with all those good 6A teams close to Westfield. Grant it that would be a great game just seems unlikely.

Whoever plays, one thing I'd like to see is VCU or the city of Richmond step up and offer to host the 5/6 championships at Richmond City Stadium (formerly managed by U of Richmond). No disrespect meant to Hampton or William and Mary, both of which are nice FCS facilities, but Richmond as the state capital, and more centered for the majority of the Class5/6 schools would be a good place to have the games and probably bigger crowds.

I am with you 100% on that one!
I know as a Highland Springs Springer from the 1970's, I'd love to see some Championship Football there again!
I think The Richmond Kickers own or run it now.

It used to be there and they moved it bc the turn out was low I think.

I think the Kickers take care of upkeep during their season (March through September) and from what I read, there is some consideration to redeveloping the place into residential homes. I went to school in Fairfax County and live in DC now, and of all the "neutral" sites I have been to over the years...and I have gone to AAA and now class 5/6 games maybe 20 times over the last 40 years....the BEST place I've thought is City Stadium. Its not too big like Scott Stadium or Lane Stadium, and its centrally located. With the new 5/6 classifications about 70% of Class 6 schools are north of Fredericksburg, and maybe 45% of Class 5 are either north or west of Fredericksburg. Only issue with City Stadium, is if crowds exceed 10,000 it means some parking in the surrounding neighborhoods as the designated lot is not large enough.

I believe the reason they moved wasn't turnout was low, but rather University of Richmond built an on campus stadium and relinquished the daily management of the stadium. That why the name reverted back to City Stadium from University of Richmond Stadium. Looking back when I last remember going there, I don't think any of the crowds in recent years has been bigger than what City Stadium had. The lowest attended AAA, Division 5/6 games were at Virginia Tech which is over a 200 mile drive from damn near 90% of the schools in those classifications. It was better at UVa than the last couple of years at Hampton University. Part of that is the in Westfield and Centreville, you're talking about two of the largest enrollments in the state, and they traveled well.

They could do it at U of R.
It's about the same size as Hampton.
They might want an arm and a leg to rent the place though!

Would love to see Highland Springs v Westfield game. Clearly the two premier/elite programs in the state with the best coaching staffs in the state. That would be one heck of a game to see. To great physical, discipline well coached teams who know how to win.
