Greer’s situation was, well, unique. And, frankly, I think he would have been better-served getting better and bigger at prep school for a year rather than burning his shirt last season. (I also think NU would be better off - but desperate times...)
I get the sense that he was recruited to back up Lathon. It appears as if his offers were DePaul, Bucknell, and some Ivies in addition to NU at the time of his commitment.
As a freshman he was, well, fine. I don’t think we project a star here. More importantly, though, is he a B1G rotation player?
It’s easy to look at the 2,3,4 positions and envision pretty decent players even in 2019-20, whether based on press clippings (Beran) or projections (Nance, maybe, and Kopp) or what we’ve seen (Turner, Gaines). Envisioning success at the 1 and 5 demands, well, faith.
