Saban on SC pleading his case.
Pretty simple rebuttal.

Who did you beat, Nick? What makes him any different than Penn State, Tennessee (who he has no argument over), or Clemson?

Bama didn't beat anyone who has less than four losses. He simply thinks they should get in based on their name alone.

Easy rebuttal as mentioned in this article

1. No quality wins (their best win is a 1-point win over 8-4 Texas or Miss State). If your argument is your losses then that speaks volumes. You don't have the wins and if we talk about close losses, let's talk about the three close wins.

2. Other teams have better cases

"TCU lost in overtime to Kansas State in the Big 12 Championship Game in what was the Horned Frogs' first loss of the season. What makes its case unique is that it already beat every team on the schedule -- including this same Kansas State team in the regular season. Essentially, they played their way into a chance to lose in a rematch. TCU's quality wins include the victory over Kansas State and a seven-point win over Texas in Austin -- a comparable result to the one-point win Alabama had in the same building. Oh, and there's the obvious fact that a one-loss team has one fewer loss than a two-loss team, but that's just basic math.

Ohio State has a much better case on top of that same super-complicated math above. The Buckeyes' signature win is a 44-31 win at No. 8 Penn State, which the committee obviously loves. It also has that 11-point win over No. 21 Notre Dame, a team which will probably find itself in the top 20 in the final rankings on Sunday. Sure, the 45-23 home loss to Michigan last week wasn't great, but the Wolverines are the second-ranked team in the country. If we are judging losses, one loss to the second-ranked team in the country is still better than two losses to Tennessee and an LSU team that could fall out of the top 20 after a 50-30 drubbing at the hands of Georgia on Saturday in the SEC Championship Game.

In reality, Tennessee has a better case than Alabama. Aside from the obvious heads-up win over the Crimson Tide, the Volunteers stomped LSU 40-13 in Baton Rouge, the same place in which Alabama lost to those same Tigers."

Yeah, I think it will be this simply because they don't want a Michigan/OSU rematch in the semis but they should have them face each other again.

But if OSU miraculously beats Georgia somehow, God, could you imagine the craziness with the Bucs vs Michigan for the national championship? The coverage for this game would be insane. The ticket prices would be off the charts, and some fans would likely be murdered in the parking lot or the days leading up to it.

That's bigger than UNC/Duke basketball.
Spare me. Outside of Mich and Ohio, the rest of the country can't stand those schools or the conference they're in.

I don’t care if you like them. I’m just saying it’s the biggest rivalry in college football. I don’t even know how that can be argued.

Are you a basketball fan? Do you want "December Madness" with 64 teams? Have you considered the impossible logistics of that?

I think I mentioned 16 with a cap at 24 at the most. If lower levels of college football with tiny budgets can make the logistics work then so can division 1.

And to Cawood86, we get it, you are ok with UK going to meaningless bowl games every year and never competing for anything that matters. It's funny how different you are on this board than basketball because you are all about UK winning natty titles and final fours on that forum.

Says who? Northern folks?

I'm sure you don't know. Bama and Auburn says hello. Up until the last 2 years, Mich And OSU hasn't meant much the last 10-15 years.
The Iron Bowl would be No. 2 on my list of rivalries.

I also think history is a bit longer than a 10-15 year window but even then, there’s been some pretty important and/or close games during that time- 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2022,

It’s Red Sox/Yankees. You can hate both teams and many of us do but it’s the most famous rivalry in the sport.

According to you maybe. The SEC has multiple title winners from their Conference. The last 3 infact. LSU, Bama, and UGA. Little tougher road to get thru the SEC.

Mich and OSU and the BIG 10 is about one game every year. Those two schools are it. Rest of the gamesjust fill out the schedule.

Hype them up all you want. Until the last 2 years, the game didn't really matter. They feast on a bunch of mid level teams all year.

Man, the SEC is top heavy every year with most of the conference being mediocre at best.

-I'm with you on the Bama bs, but this is a really bad take. Look at record against non-conference opponents in regular season. SEC routinely "plays up" in bowl games ( SEC 5 vs b10 3 etc)...and usually wins.

I think every conference is top heavy (as in one to two good teams, rest mediocre or below average). I think most of college football is mediocre and every year we have just a few actually really good teams.

1) Georgia
2) Michigan
3) TCU
4) Alabama

That’s the 4 I’m thinking that will make the college football playoffs. I can’t stand OSU so hopefully Alabama makes it in over them!
I would love to see anyone other than Ohio State or the Vols make it.

Are you telling me that adding Bama and Clemson wouldn't have made for a better playoff?
Yes, other than what they did in the past their performance THIS season doesn't justify them getting in. This is exactly why I am not in favor of a group of people who live in Alabama deciding who plays for SEC Championship.

Now if what they had done the previous 5 years counted in determining the 22 champion both should have been in.
