It's hard to narrow it down to just one but for me it is probably between Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Apocalypse Now) or Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Toy Story, Saving Private Ryan). What do you say?
different tom: tom cruise. All the IMF movies, that lawyer movie, top gun, days of thunder, reacher. minority report, edge of tomorrow. he's human version of Archer. It's hard to narrow it down to just one but for me it is probably between Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Apocalypse Now) or Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Toy Story, Saving Private Ryan). Cruise has been in some good movies but I wouldn't necessarily classify Edge of Tomorrow, Minority Report or Reacher as iconic.different tom: tom cruise. All the IMF movies, that lawyer movie, top gun, days of thunder, reacher. minority report, edge of tomorrow. he's human version of Archer.
can you do one of those march madness style bracket polls where we vote? This could be a fun discussion thread!Cruise has been in some good movies but I wouldn't necessarily classify Edge of Tomorrow, Minority Report or Reacher as iconic.
he was also in tropic thunder -- his part there, along with RDJ, might be the best acting jobs ive ever seen.Cruise has been in some good movies but I wouldn't necessarily classify Edge of Tomorrow, Minority Report or Reacher as iconic.
One of the most underrated of All Time. Appeared in 5 movies and all 5 are classics. The Conversation is arguably the "worst" one, and its great.John Cazale
I was just naming iconic movies that he was in as examples. I didn't say he was the leading man.Not sure you can say Harrison Ford deserves many accolades for his part in Apocalypse Now. I mean, c'mon, he was on screen less than a minute, wasn't he? I've seen that movie at least 5 times and I had to look it up to confirm he was even in that movie. I mean Brando, Short and Duvall were the main guys in AN, not Ford.
One of my favorite actors along with Gene Hackman.the answer is Harrison Ford he has Star Wars and the indiana Jones franchises, the fugitive, the jack Ryan movies, Air Force one, on and on. 45 years of none stop great movies Harrison Ford is hard to beat when it comes to iconic over time. The only other acceptable answer is Clint Eastwood because he has been doing iconic movies for 65 years. Harrison Ford though has two of the first and most successful franchises ever.
Edit: robert deniro has to be in discussion too but I still think he’s still behind Ford.
Also Al Pacino.Gene Hackman has to be in contention as well. Hoosiers, The French Connection, Lex Luthor in the Superman movies, among others.
For me it’s Clint Eastwood. If nothing else it’s his run of phenomenal westerns.
Starting with his “Man With No Name” trilogy.
Also…
High Plains Drifter
Pale Rider
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Unforgiven
Throw in the Dirty Harry movies. And countless others that are good.
Dude has been killin it for longer than I’ve been alive, and I’m 66.
Martin Short was in Apocalypse Now? Or did your phone change Sheen to Short? Not sure you can say Harrison Ford deserves many accolades for his part in Apocalypse Now. Coppola originally wanted McQueen for the role of Captain Willard in Apocalypse Now.Steve McQueen
Bullitt
Tom Horn
The Magnificent 7
The Blob
The Great escape (My favorite movie of all time)
The towering Inferno
The Getaway
Hell is for Heros
Reacher is waàay better as a series.Cruise has been in some good movies but I wouldn't necessarily classify Edge of Tomorrow, Minority Report or Reacher as iconic.
This is the correct answer. Heck, even his lesser movies like Eiger Saction and Kelly's Heroes are really entertaining. For me it’s Clint Eastwood. If nothing else it’s his run of phenomenal westerns.
Starting with his “Man With No Name” trilogy.

Ha - didn't notice that. Yes, autocorrect changed Sheen to Short. Dammit!Martin Short was in Apocalypse Now? Or did your phone change Sheen to Short?
I was going to post this. He’s been in a ton of timeless films.Gene Hackman has to be in contention as well. Hoosiers, The French Connection, Lex Luthor in the Superman movies, among others.
Great director/producer too.For me it’s Clint Eastwood. If nothing else it’s his run of phenomenal westerns.

Schwarzenegger is worth a mention for Terminator, and maybe Predator (timeless?). I’m not sure what else he has done that would qualify as timeless. The Conan movies fit in a certain cult classic niche, but not sure I’d consider them timeless.Uh, Arnold Schwarzenegger? Come ON people
Did you mean Sheen? lol No offense. It's any easy mistake. Martin Short made me laugh though. Not sure you can say Harrison Ford deserves many accolades for his part in Apocalypse Now.
