I don’t see the point of it. It does nothing for recruiting and gets zero media attention.
Would rather just play a MAC school and get an easier win.

We try to play an academic peer school every year, because we definitely do recruit against them. Stanford generally isn't interested. There's bad blood between us and Vanderbilt. That leaves Duke or a G6 like Rice or Tulane.I don’t see the point of it. It does nothing for recruiting and gets zero media attention.

Franklin I believe was part of the problem at Vandy when they canceled those games remaining and a game with OSUWe try to play an academic peer school every year, because we definitely do recruit against them. And thinking of MAC schools as easy wins ... is not necessarily wise.
Vandy pretty much only wants easy wins in their OOC schedule. That was true under Franklin but hasn't changed much since.Franklin I believe was part of the problem at Vandy when they canceled those games remaining and a game with OSU
Didn't realize we had UCLA on our schedule in 2033 and 2034. Guess that contract will go in the shredder.Next season New Mexico State rolls into town as another non-conference game.
Remind me again why Vandy has issues with us. I remember the fax cancellation but what precipitated it.We try to play an academic peer school every year, because we definitely do recruit against them. Stanford generally isn't interested. Franklin scheduled a 13th opponent - UMass, I think. Their schedule was set but they chose to break the contract with NU.Remind me again why Vandy has issues with us. I remember the fax cancellation but what precipitated it.
I believe NU defeated Vandy back to back the years Rogers brother was QB. Vandy also faxed a cancellation with OSU tooFranklin scheduled a 13th opponent - UMass, I think. Their schedule was set but they chose to break the contract with NU.
Yeah, I figured that NU destroyed Vandy went without saying…I believe NU defeated Vandy back to back the years Rogers brother was QB. Vandy also faxed a cancellation with OSU too
Franklin was an arse then tooYeah, I figured that NU destroyed Vandy went without saying…![]()
There's a good chance that's cancelled because NMSU is joining a conference that season and needs to play conference games instead.Next season New Mexico State rolls into town as another non-conference game.
It's as @Catreporter said, Vandy has a rough go of it competing in the SEC and wants easy out of conference wins.Remind me again why Vandy has issues with us. I remember the fax cancellation but what precipitated it.
Tulane should be the obvious choice. You know what beats a trip to New Orleans! We try to play an academic peer school every year, because we definitely do recruit against them. We were too good for Vandy to handle, basically. They want easy Ws on their OOC slate, and 2 losses told them we weren't easy enough.Remind me again why Vandy has issues with us. I remember the fax cancellation but what precipitated it.
We had a home & home with Tulane, but the home game was in 2020 and got canceled. The game @ TU is in 2025. My youngest daughter graduates from Tulane that spring; I may be suffering severe Nola restaurant withdrawal & have to make the trip.Tulane should be the obvious choice. I said was an arse then too. He’s no longer an arse?
