What are we playing Duke every year until 2026?

I don’t see the point of it. It does nothing for recruiting and gets zero media attention.

Would rather just play a MAC school and get an easier win.

We try to play an academic peer school every year, because we definitely do recruit against them. Stanford generally isn't interested. There's bad blood between us and Vanderbilt. That leaves Duke or a G6 like Rice or Tulane.

And thinking of MAC schools as easy wins ... is not necessarily wise.

Franklin I believe was part of the problem at Vandy when they canceled those games remaining and a game with OSU

Vandy pretty much only wants easy wins in their OOC schedule. That was true under Franklin but hasn't changed much since.

Remind me again why Vandy has issues with us. I remember the fax cancellation but what precipitated it.

Franklin scheduled a 13th opponent - UMass, I think. Their schedule was set but they chose to break the contract with NU.

Vanderbilt tries to schedule four nonconference wins because it is likely their best chance to get bowl eligible since they are outgunned by most SEC teams.

It's as @Catreporter said, Vandy has a rough go of it competing in the SEC and wants easy out of conference wins.

They lost those 2 games in 2010/2012 and decided that was it.

Tulane should be the obvious choice. You know what beats a trip to New Orleans!

We were too good for Vandy to handle, basically. They want easy Ws on their OOC slate, and 2 losses told them we weren't easy enough.

We had a home & home with Tulane, but the home game was in 2020 and got canceled. The game @ TU is in 2025. My youngest daughter graduates from Tulane that spring; I may be suffering severe Nola restaurant withdrawal & have to make the trip.
