This one here always hits me hard. Anyone who’s ever struggled or know someone who has. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from.

Listening to one of my favorite bands, The Cold Stares. Originally a power duo…two dudes from Madisonville, KY. A couple years ago they added a full time bass player and became a trio. Love their sound.

Today I’m jammin out with a band that few have ever heard of. Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters. Ronnie Earl is a criminally underrated guitar player, IMO.

Hopefully you’ve a woman in your life that makes you feel like this?

I could listen to this guitar prowess all day long…

Ronnie Earl doing a great tribute to the fantastic TBone Walker

This ^ song make me think of this v song. Justin was one of the few rockers who managed to get off the horse.

I've seen RHH more times than I can count. Last time at Cosmic Charlies. During a break, Jimbo (the standup Bass player) came outside to smoke, and split a joint with my friend and me. Awesomely chill guy.

I had moved away from Lexington before the days of Cosmic Charlie's but I do remember seeing him at The Wrocklage somewhere in the early/mid nineties. Those years are a little fuzzy lol... what a show. Psychobilly Legend.

Like you, I've seen him more than a few times in Lex, Lou and Newport. He will be at Mercury Ballroom in Louisville on Wednesday, July 2nd.
If you go, ENJOY THE SHOW !!!

Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives will be at Grand Theatre in Frankfort on Saturday, September 6th.
Incredibly-talented band at a fabulous venue ... this will be sold out, no doubt, so hurry, if interested.

A few years ago I bought a double CD best-of from Steely Dan titled Showbiz Kids. It has 33 tracks of great music from this group. Every now and then I just have to break it out and give it a listen to remind myself of how good those guys were.

My first exposure to Steely Dan was when I heard this one on the radio when I was a young’un.

One of their three top 10 hits

This has long been one of my favorites. And it comes with an interesting back story. While in college, a female acquaintance of Donald Fagen ratted him out to the school for drug possession. Fagen was pissed over the fallout and swore he’d never go back to his old school.

Absolutely incredible band, to say the least. They have so many great songs, but this has always been my favorite:

That is definitely a great tune. Like I said, my best-of set has 33 songs and there’s not a throw away track on it. The arrangements, the melodies, the lyrics… A truly phenomenal group. And the more I listen, the more I appreciate them.

My Morning Jacket One Big Holiday, "I Know you Rider", since that band was mentioned elsewhere.
