I realize that there is still lot of basketball left to be played, and that the toughest part of the Card's schedule is still to come in February. I know that anything can happen- good or bad- and that nothing is a guarantee at this point.

As long as the team isn't caught looking too far ahead, it is still fun to do as fans watching from the sidelines. I have enjoyed watching Coach Mack and team so far. It has been a fun season up to this point.

So what are your hopes/expectations for the rest of the season and (hopefully) the post season?

I think we can definitely finish top 4 in the conference and stay ranked. This team has some pretty solid upside in my opinion. Our defense is getting better and when our shooters are hot we're scary.

I expect at least 4 more regular season losses. With the teams coming up in Feb could be more however all this team needs to do rest of the way is probably more than less break even .Which is win the games they are favored . Post season i could easily see a win in the NCAA tourney and . Acc tourney same.

Bottom line this season unless they totally tank it's been a success regardless i'll be happy with this first year if they lose first game's in both tourneys..

IE this team could be something special if VJ and Perry would have gave the offensive efforts we all expected.But this far into the season it's too late to expect that.

We have enough talent to finish strong but the best part of this team is the coaching, effort and a blue collar mentality.

I’m happy VJ is at least getting 10-15 mins of decent defense and solid rebounding. He understands that his role has been swiped and he needs to take on a different role and mindset. Perry is just lost imo. Huge liability.

Six of the remaining eleven games are against teams currently in the top 25. FIVE of those six games are against teams in the top 12 in the country, and three are in the top 3.

IF the Cards can manage 5 or 6 more wins, I will be content. Get seven or more regular season wins and it will be exceptional. I don't expect that BUT I doubt many thought this team would be 15-5 today either.

Final record of 19-12 would still be a really good coaching job by coach Mack. Hitting the 20 win mark would probably earn him ACC COY honors and maybe even national COY. He has done an outstanding job so far.

Dont disagree Cue, and trust me I am not nitpicking as I am blown away with this team so far, but when you succeed, expectations change. They need to find a way to go at least 6-5 the rest of the way. I think they will, but generally your seeding is greatly impacted if you finish your last 10 with a losing record. I like our chances of going 7-4. Go cards!!

The road games concern me the most and there are 6 of em.

@ Wake F.
@#12 Virginia Tech
@#25 FSU
@Syracuse
@Boston C.
@#3 Virginia

We need to win at least 3 of those games, That is 18 wins.

The remaining home games:

#9 UNC
#2 Duke
Clemson
Notre Dame
#3 Virginia

Win 2 and that is a 20 win season at 20-11. Win a couple more in the ACC tourney and a record of 22-12 with what will be one of the most difficult schedules played and we're looking at no worse than a 5 seed IMO. This schedule is freaking brutal.

What's crazy about this team is I really don't think that they have played to their full potential and yet they are still winning. They are also improving at a rate that I have never seen with any U of L team. It seems like every week they get a little bit better and more intense. I think they finish the year strong and make a run in the tournament.

Hoping that the team can stay injury free and keep improving in the tougher part of their schedule.

10 games left on the schedule as of today. This team could easily go 3-7 or 4-6 to end the season with their schedule. The way they are currently playing I see at least 5 more wins and possibly 6.

We learn a lot more about this team in February. A perfect schedule really for Mack with it being mostly back loaded. No matter what it's been a successful first year for Mack and the program.

Expecting a 3-5 record against a brutal February schedule, then 1-1 in March heading into the ACC tournament. 11-7 conference record gets us a 6 seed in the conference tourney, where we go 1-1, losing to UNC in the conference tourney quarterfinals.

21-12 gets us a 6 seed in the big dance, which makes us about as likely to get bounced out in round 1 as it does to make the sweet 16. No matter what the NCAA tourney outcome, it’s an outstanding first season for Coach Mack.

And if we can get better play out of Perry and King, we have a shot at a top 3 seed in the ACC tourney and top 12 in NCAA tourney.

It is Feb. 1st and we have had a surprising season. I hope we can finish in the top four in the ACC and get that double-bye in the tournament.

GO CARDS!

Well, we are in the homestretch and all games are important in a conference like the ACC. However, if we can beat VT tonight and Syracuse on the 20th and put them in the rear-view mirror we have a good chance to finish in the top four in the ACC.
