So UL hires lawyers and it means they are going on the offensive and bad for Powell..........

Powell hires lawyer and it means she's scared and on the run and good news for UL

man UL fans are dumb

By the way, since the book says her daughter didnt do anything but pick up money when she was under age.... is that still a crime just being around her family stripping?

In case someone was starting to feel sorry for those guys, here's a nice bag of smelling salts:

http://www.scout.com/college/louisville/forums/2755-the-yum/14188814-cal-defending-rick?page=2

It's a thread about Cal's comments on Rick - Cal says he hopes it's not true, personally knows Rick, knows he wouldn't be personally involved. Polite, professional, taking up a little for Rick.

This somehow turns into one of their 500 weekly "^&%# Cal" threads, complete with accusing Cal of hooking his own players up with prostitutes at UMASS in '96.

It's mind boggling in so many ways. Re: UMASS,

1. There was only one player involved (Camby)
2. The prostitute allegations had nothing to do with the coaching staff - it had to do with an agent trying to secure Camby as a client later on in the league
3. The prostitute allegations had nothing to do with the dorms or any on campus location
4. The prostitute allegations didn't even circumstantially make sense to link to coaching staff, even in a rival fan's wildest wet dreams - it didn't involve attracting recruits - it involved a player in his junior year - in other words, there's literally no benefit for anyone in the program to arrange such a thing

So on the one hand, we have an agent luring a single long-since committed player away from campus with a single very obvious motive - they say that Cal not knowing is a load of crap.

Then on the other hand, you have a basketball staffer bringing hookers in the dorms to win over undecided recruits - and it's inconceivable that Rick could've known.

Look, I don't think Rick knew, either, but it's hilarious how backwards they have it, and how they claim that they're unfairly picked on when they refuse to give the benefit of the doubt to Cal on a way, way, way less damning situation from 20 years ago.

That's the way they are. This is an example of why I hate them, so. They are so eaten up with being little brother, that they brag about every little success, try to belittle everything UK does, and then claim us to be cheaters, racists, hillbillies, etc. They will not listen to reason, since facts are what they say they are, and nothing you say, or show them in print, will change their minds. If they don't get a recruit, it is not because the kid doesn't want to go to that dumpster fire of a program, it is because WWW, Cal, Nike, or a UK booster have paid them off. They are, literally, crazy. I have one friend who is a UL fan, but he is from Wales, and he just went to school there, and isn't nuts. Other than that, I choose not to associate with the idiots. Wait and see, it will not matter what facts come out during this investigation, many, or even most of them, will continue to swear that it didn't happen. The ones that do think that it happened will claim that all schools do it, that it wasn't that big of a deal, especially since that school just down the road pays for players and nothing happens to them, so what is the difference? I can't stand them, their attitudes, and their entire thug program. I hope their recruiting gets even worse than it has been, and they get nailed for this. Itcouldn't happen to a more deserving bunch. I tried to be civil. Should I say what I really think? :sunglasses:

It's not REALLY an egregious violation in my opinion, other than the girls being so young. I have a buddy, UNC fan, and his response was "so they hooked up with strippers, who cares?" I tend to agree. If this was UNLV instead of Louisville, this thread would be one page long.

reply
if it were the students arranging the 'hookups' on their own, nobody probably would care, but the implication is that the university of louisville arranged the 'hookups.' if that is proven to be true then then the ncaa will care very much.

Who knows what the NCAA will do. I thought they were totally out of their jurisdiction in the Penn State case, and they wiped how many years of victories off the books? I still don't understand that one.

What happened?

Pitino and Jurich were receiving complaints from recruit’s parents about the sex parties hosted and paid for by McGee. Stories were confirmed and in April, 2014 they shipped McGee of to UMKC who is coached by a former Pitino assistant. They’ve spent the last 18 months trying to cover it up until Katina Powel surfaced.

Are you sure about this timing? They hired the UNC lawyer with scandal-handling experience in November 2014 as their general counsel. Seems like a decision was made to ride things out instead of coming clean some time in the middle of 2014.

Lol at uofl fans trying to look at all these angles. Only 3 things matter..there were prostitutes, in the dorm, for money. Nothing else is of relevance. No other part of the story matters.
That isn't quite true. Simply having strippers there for recruits is a big problem, they didn't have to be prostitutes. Then you have the underage issue, on both sides.

Billy Donovan just took a good NBA job, and it's obvious that this was his ultimate goal. Louisville will try to make a splash. They might inquire about Donovan, but he would be out of his mind to leave a good NBA job to insert himself into the mess in Louisville. They may inquire on Gregg Marshall and Mike Brey, but those guys would be nuts to leave their current jobs for Louisville under these circumstances. They may inquire about Kenny Payne, but I don't see how that can work now. And this is their problem. Louisville has a proud basketball tradition, but this scandal will trash it. Pitino will be forced out in disgrace. I don't see how Jurich can survive. But if Jurich does survive, the taint of scandal will remain. And if he doesn't survive, then there will be a lot more uncertainty in the situation their next coach must accept. Either way, the stature of the Louisville head coaching job is about to take a big hit. They will have to offer a huge amount of money and security as an incentive to snare their next coach. They either have to catch a rising star with a clean slate, or they have to bring in a veteran with a big rep who will accept the challenge of the cleanup. In the latter case, they might even have to offer the AD and head basketball coach jobs to the same guy. I don't overestimate the pull of the Louisville job under these circumstances. I don't know who will agree to put themselves in the middle of a mess like this, but it could be someone looking for a fresh start.

They'll find a decent coach if it comes to that. It wouldn't be a whole lot different than Pitino coming in after Sutton. The UL job isn't as good as the Kentucky job was, but it's still one of the top 10-15 jobs in college basketball.

I can say without doubt, that if my son was deciding on a school, I would definitely not condone even considering a program that brought strippers into the dorm while he was there on an officially sponsored school visit. Just think about that for a moment......your kid (KID) on an officially sponsored visit to a University, being chaperoned by professional adults, is met with cheap whores to entice a commitment?!?! What the hell? It boggles the mind. Such vile behavior. I don't give a rats *** if the coach knew what what was happening or not. And if Rick didn't know, all the more reason to keep my kid away from that place. A head coach who is expected to be a positive influence on these kids should know - especially on an official visit! The fact the he doesn't speaks volumes.

Of course, I think he did know, and he just ignored it. Pretended to not know. So no ones even knows he knows. That's the best defense.

Complete garbage heap up there in Da 'Ville. Throw dem L's up bithes!!!!

Just to make myself clear, I agree that most of the new threads deserved to be merged, it would totally dominate the front page if not, that being said it would be nice to have 4-5 different threads for iimportant new news and evidence, one for if this will turn legal, one for possible new coaches, and one for jokes, which some are funny, it's just frusterating to miss out on meaningful new twists on this without spending literally hours because of jokes. I think that there could be a happy medium of more than one thread, and dozens so we can become informed of new info, without reading 120 pages and thousands of posts.

(I couldn't find your original post) BD, I like everything you've said but IMO, if all of this turns out to be true, I still think Jurich will remain at Louisville and Pitino will retire with loads of Louisville fanfare after this year because I truly feel that UL has no moral/ethical compass to do what most universities would do in a case like this. Anyway, excellent post and if I find it I'll give it a "Like".

Well...if history has anything to say about this scandal, we should hear something more today. Seems like something is 'leaked' every other Friday, right before the weekend.

Ok. Whores. I was trying to imply that even strippers (as these bird brain are suggesting) is reason enough to make the determination that that entire program is disgusting. But I agree, whores fits better in this scenario. Sorry to give that dumpster fire of a program too much respect.

I have a legit question regarding the "stripper" thing.

Did any of these whores actually strip? I mean or a living? Not that it matters... just curious.

Anyone know?

Pitino has made a big deal out of approaching the schools President and asking for a new dorm to be built and named after Billy Minardi. He even referenced it earlier in the week at his speech during the booster luncheon. He said the President told him that if they built a dorm for men's basketball, they'd have to build one for every sport. So, Pitino says he then goes to New York and asks all his buddies to donate $50,000 each to get it built. Terry Meiners and supposedly some UK fans even donated.
Now....after ALL that trouble we are supposed to believe Rick Pitino, who raised the money himself, who named the building after Minardi because he wanted to do this great gesture of love and respect...has no idea what goes on in the place???
Come on man!!!

Why would he have to raise money for the place at all? He robbed the Celtics of tens of millions so I would think he would donate for it without problem. Is there some rule disallowing that?
