Thats what gives me more hope than anything about this, the fact that the author is not some fly-by night character. This guy has one helluva resume, and the fact that he has already come out and said that he stands by what he wrote is huge. If this guy refuses to back down then it will all be over for UL.

The only thing that bothers me about it is waiting to see if the NCAA will be swift, or if it will be 2-5 years down the road before they actually made a decision and put penalties in place.

Why be in any hurry? This is going to be a gift that keeps on giving, with new revelations every few weeks. It will totally destroy UL's recruiting, be yet another black eye on Jurich and the entire school while continuing to be a constant source of pain for their bird-brained fans. Why would you not be happy for it to last as long as possible?

Thats a good point, but no UL fan will acknowledge any wrong doing until actual legal and NCAA ramifications take place. For me, thats what this is all about is their fans having to suffer. And they won't concede until the actual hammer falls. Doesn't matter how bad things get there, they will whistle and act like its all good until something actually happens by way of sanctions, etc. Just my opinion

Exactly!

This will be the gift that keeps on giving.

It is gonna kill Tard recruiting even worse than it already sucks.

Hopefully they'll try to keep the Adulterer.

He's fully neutered now.

Oh, they're suffering, despite whatever brave face they're trying to put on.

The not knowing, the uncertainty, is worse than a quick judgment.

The fact that there are potential felonies involved will probably force the ncaa to act quickly. This is closer to penn state than UNC in terms of how they will handle it.

Yeah, I laugh at all the idiotic linebeards talking about how they can't wait till UL sues this lady and the publisher...

They're clearly idiots who have no clue how the legal process actually works.

The LAST thing in the world Ramsey, Jurich, Pitino, and the rest of the scum on Floyd Street want is to be deposed.

Know what happens if you lie in a deposition and they can prove it? They can charge your *** with PERJURY.

Nothing more entertaining for UK fans could happen than a lawsuit. But they'd never do it in a million years.

Thank you! Other thread someone said that wasn't true. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy the damn thing.
it for sure states that in the book. this is really sickening, the 15 year old girl is bad, but I really can't get my head around the father and son both being serviced. that is just so wrong in so many ways.

Thank you Deplion for your response. I had no idea that the info could be so damning!

I knew UL was BAD ( I live in Louisville), but I don't think even the worst UL hater could have dreamed up a worse scenario for UL if what has been written is true!

I've heard UofL fans spewing that "it's just girls in pics with players, what's that prove?"

Were they expecting a bunch of sex acts to be photographed and released?! How effing stupid

There very well may be pictures of actual sex acts. Couldn't put them in the book, but they can be shown in court. Something made reputable people put their reputations on the line to print her story.

I've done a little reading on this author. He seems like a badass that Louisville wants no part of. Yes, he has a Pulitzer. But more. It was for finding corruption in the Indianapolis police force. Cops had their hands in prostitution (so he's got experience). They tried to set him and a partner up for bribery. Arrested and indicted. But they still went through with the story. Police chief lost his job and the charges were dropped.

In the mid 70s, a reporter was killed by by the mob in Arizona that he was doing a story on. This dude gets in a car and drives to Arizona to help FINISH THE STORY ABOUT THE MOB THAT KILLED REPORTERS.

Hookers for a basketball team? Tom Jurich? This stuff is small potatoes to him.
now *that* is a journalist.

In the words of Sound Slave, " do you remember what happened to the last B*&^%h woman that messed with our program?"

Between UNC's war on the women's basketball program and Louisville's war on women in general, I'm not sure what the media is waiting on...

Male sports, sexism, the desecration of the female institution......hello?

His experience of having successfully battled low life scumbags that constantly skirted their way around the rules, ran their organization on the principles of excess, greed, and deceit at the expense and to the detriment of everyone living in the local community, and forcefully silenced/intimidated any local journalist that dared to do their job by trying to expose the obvious corruption that was taking place will serve him well in a fight against Boss Jurich and his rogue machine.

I don't think she'll be charged with anything and genre's why. I read an interview with a spokeswoman from LMPD. She said that as far as she knows there are no plans to investigate these matters, and since the majority of the allegations were alleged to have happen on UofL's campus, then the matter would be left up to University Police to investigate.

Here's the thing, though. If University Police decide to bring her up on charges, then they are basically corroborating some of her story and admitting guilt to a prostitution ring running rampant on their campus, among their student-athletes. I'm not so sure that's the type of circumstantial evidence they want to spoon feed to the NCAA.

There are so many good slogans to use....its a target rich environment.

Fourni-gate
Whoricane Katina
Papa Johns (the dads of the recruits who were serviced)
The Billy Minardi Gentlemen's Club aka Little Brothel
L1C4nicate and many other versions

I personally have been given a treasure trove of bits to use.

My question is, what is LSU doing that UL isn't? There are several names apparently mentioned in "the book" that UL whiffed on, who ended up playing in Baton Rouge.

For those who don't have the book, CJ writes about the 15-year-old daughter here. It also says the University of Louisville police would be handling the investigation. Are they employed by the University? Yeah, I'm sure they're really going to give a thorough investigation either way. We need the FBI to handle it from the interstate angle.

they insinuated it being hard to discredit her considering how bad she makes herself look. they will try of course, but what they can confirm so far they say is truth. a really really bad sign for ul.

Why does the tax issue keep coming up? We don't know if taxes were paid on the cash? Until we know let's forget about the IRS.
OK...except this is Katina's most vulnerable point. She can't be charged with prostitution because no witnesses no evidence. And UL has no interest in attacking that angle since it is self-indicting.

Again...I'm not an attorney, but I am a businessman. And if I was a UL official, I would realize that anything we publicly say to defend ourselves just fuels the issue and makes us look guilty.

So I would attack Katina's integrity via the money angle. I'd use my pervasive influence to get the IRS to investigate and audit. If you've ever dealt with that mess, you would understand the financial and legal difficulties that a full 5 year audit presents. If she stuck by the storyline of her book, that opens the door for penalties and even jail time. And this all would happen outside the public arena (unless she was charged by the IRS with a crime).

This would be an awesome song to tweak the lyrics and names and apply it to this sorry, sordid affair. lol Something like,

These are the tales the freaky tales, these are the tales Katina tells so well
I met this jock his name was Chane, he loved being the caboose, of our train.

etc. lol

In the CJ story this morning, it says the Indy paper reported Saturday that she says Pitino knew about it. She says no way he didn't since so many people were involved. She asked Magee if Pitino knew and he laughed and said "Rick knows EVERYTHING"

Here's a question I have....we know what types of players they allow on their football team....might this blow up on Petrino, too? I don't think Charlie Strong was the type to allow such things, but Petrino sure as hell is. He didn't use this woman, or she would have included him, but the culture is there. The football players had to know the basketball players were getting it.

On Scout this morning - The UL fans are outraged that the book story is being covered by the local media -

Local stations showing their "colors"
In my normal routine, I watch WDRB in the morning. Who knows why, I guess I just felt comfortable with Sterling and Candice. They seem like regular people. However, I went to sleep watching Sunday night football, so my TV was on WAVE 3 when I turned it back on at 6AM. As part of their main "news" portion of the show, they had some jerkoff standing in front of a 70" screen displaying and READING ANONYMOUS AMAZON REVIEWS of the book. Seriously. They are apparently so desperate over there that they were reading an obvious UK fan review of the book that said it was as good as anything Woodward and Bernstein ever wrote. He said this with a straight face. Of course, WAVE 3 also put a convicted drunk on the air as their main morning news man, so that tells you a little about how the place is being run.
On the other hand, once I changed over to WDRB and their news started again at 6:30, they did a few seconds on the book and simply stated that the "writer" stood behind the story. That was it.
I think many of us have known for a long time that there are many, many UK fans in "journalistic" positions in Louisville and when stuff like this comes up, they show their as$ for us to see them as they really are. But we, as University of Louisville alumni and fans, must continue to out them whenever possible. We know the Courier Journal is in complete UK control, from the editorials all the way to the sports section. We know that WLKY anchors and sports people are sucking at the crotch of Calipari. Vicki Dortch practically cries on air when UK loses a game. We can now see that WAVE 3 is the same. Our only marginal "friend" seems to be WDRB. WHAS 11 has fallen so hard that they've become irrelevant.
I wonder, how much is WAVE 3 paying for that unbelievably awful weather update that they scream during the football games? If I were Jurich, I would seriously consider pulling credentials for "news outlets" that report things like this, even just temporarily. There are plenty of places to get your news, the local stations are no longer the only game in town.

I am an attorney, but not a criminal attorney. But I find it incongruous that U of L boosters could be prosecuted criminally (for mail fraud or conspiracy or whatever else) but Katina somehow would not be. That makes no sense. That would in effect be prosecuting the john but not the prostitute - that never happens. So, I think it is very unlikely that this will end up a criminal matter. What U of L has to worry about (other than just the reputational hit) is the NCAA.

Look at what that city pushes their school to do in a futile effort to get a win against the mighty UK . Get your life in order Louisville , you are giving kids drugs and hookers for a basketball game . Clearly the strain to keep up with us has drove them to madness .
luavil should not furnish drugs and hookers to the kids. as a L1C4 learning institution, luavil's job is to make sure the kids learn how to get drugs and hookers on their own.
