Honestly Rick looks like it's really bad. He looks completely defeated for those not watching. Basically saying it's pretty much true without saying it.

Are we really surprised this happens during recruiting visits? On Highly Questionable a week ago, they asked Marcus Dupree about how fun his recruiting visits were back in the day and he didn't say anything but his grin was from ear to ear and you could tell some crazy stuff happened during those visits.

Pitino - " I am totally in the dark"

"I know nothing"

"we've always done what the NCAA ask"

"We dot every T and cross every I".......or whatever

Pitino's comments sound as if the program is in trouble. He and Jurich are already establishing the "we knew nothing" defense and talking about extortion, but the comments don't sound like they can say with confidence that it didn't happen. In fact, Pitino said that McGee's job was to make sure the players/recruits did not get into trouble (essentially a chaperone), and then he said "But it looks like he wasn't doing that." And then at the end under his breath, he said "if this is true." Sounds like they are almost resigned to the fact that some of this went down, which puts the title in jeopardy.

"Jurich said he has been in contact with coach Rick Pitino about the allegations."

"We talk all the time. He's my basketball coach," Jurich said. "He wouldn't condone this either. He has a perfect track record."

Yep - they're not denying it happened, just denying they (Pitino/Jurich) knew it was going on - basically they're just trying to save themselves at this point. They know UL is going to get slammed.

That's true -- he has a perfect record for banging ****** in public restaurants. This is why you can't keep a coach after a sex scandal -- or hire another one like Petrino. Once the national Big Guns of journalism start weighing in all that is context for the story -- a university that condoned by its hires a culture of sex and a benefit.

I'm out of area, what did he say?

It was part of his "we had now idea this was going on" defense. Said there had been no emails, no one noticing anything, not even a Kentucky fan seeing it and saying something was going on - think this was pointed at Matt Jones.

All I can say is they better have cash ready if they're gonna pay some people off. Book said to be coming out as early as Saturday.

Having not read the book, I thought this might be survivable for them. Now that I'm watching Ol' Ricky basically apologize for it and admit that it happened, I'm hoping UL/Kentucky taxpayers can get a deal on a banner and tattoo removal bundle. Ouch...

Except for his NCAA violations at Hawaii.

And cheating on his wife (and his alleged God).

And paying for abortions (aren't catholics supposed to be against abortion?)...

And using a university job to try to pay off his *****'s flunky husband...

I could keep going.

Other than that, his track record is perfect! [roll]

He's on ESPN, said it could have been "some Kentucky fan" saying this. Paraphrasing of course.
Unless you're thinking of a different quote, what he actually said was that it's weird that this stuff would've gone on for so long without someone getting whiff of it (like a UK fan) and starting the rumor.

My response to that would be that no such rumor would be started if the UL staff pimp was careful enough, dealt in cash, etc - but I believe in not misquoting even your biggest rivals.
