I was just about to post this!

And the article was written before any of the proof had come out AND before the talk of the 15 year old daughter and that recruits may have been underage.

"Kathy Redmond Brown wanted to help change that culture. That’s why she went to Louisville in 2006. She quickly got the sense that some people at Louisville wanted a change—“They were trying to fix something that nobody would dare to fix”—but others did not. She left and waited for Louisville to follow up with her. She didn’t hear much from the school. Now we all know why."

This chick hasn't even begun to launch an all out assault on UL...

Unless McGee was independently wealthy or unless the escorts accepted credit cards (and the athletic department didn't ask about "entertainment" when McGee turned in his receipts), there is no way he can take the fall all by himself. Somebody was bankrolling that operation.

"This problem goes beyond NCAA violations." I can see Louisville fans saying, "Yes, leave the NCAA out of it. We've got a much bigger cultural problem."

How can you say the word "problem" and then use a word like "violations"?

See this is what I am talking about.

First people want to classify it as singular (problem), and what was added to make it plural (violations)???

This is obviously an orchestrated hit piece.

And of course it is a cultural issue, you wouldn't have societies without culture, and without societies you wouldn't have universities, and without universities the NCAA doesn't even exist!

Unless you are stupid it is easy to see we have nothing to worry about.

Photos, texts, receipts, witnesses, blah blah blah, where is the real evidence?

We did absolutely nothing wrong.

And if we did, it will be McGee's fault.

Zero sanctions for the university.

We are obviously innocent.

And if we are not, so what, everybody does it...

Pitino on Meiners show today:

I am sorry that Dr Ramsey didn't not think enough to mention me (Jurich endorsement).

I talked to McGee. I gave him a strong piece of my mind, they asked me not to talk to him again.

I don't understand the motive behind any of it.

He was a great kid here, I don't know where he went wrong with this.

Anything is possible today - referencing Lyle and NCAA leak.

His job was to keep kids out of trouble, which is the furthest thing from the truth right now.

I told Andre McGee to fess up and tell the truth.

I preached to tell the truth over and over unfortunately that fell upon deaf ears.

If Tom Jurich or Dr Ramsey want me to leave I will pack my bags and leave.

He is screaming we are guilty, why is this so hard for Tard fans?

not sure where the other thread went regarding Pitino on Terry Meiner's show; but one that was said he made is that he thought it was cowardly to resign in the midst of all this. It occurred to me last night that he wasn't telling the fans that; he was telling the UofL administration that he wasn't going to step down and did it publically so they can't force him to resign. The last statement Brian lists here kind of confirms my theory - he's saying they'll have to fire him.

Could be wrong. While I do admittedly enjoy this because of certain fans and their coach - there are those I feel badly for. If you will give me some time I might even come up with names.

Fox Sports Daybreak radio show with Andy Furman and Mike North just discussed Louisville's shame. North in particular really gave UL a hard time, not just for this scandal but also for hiring Petrino. Furman said he couldnt believe Pitino survived the Sypher thing, to which North replied, "Its Louisville." On a lighter note, its one of the radio crews birthday, and North told him that he was on the phone with Louisville and was going to set him up with a date....lol

If you were McGee? Would you take the fall for everyone and hope someone from UL helps you financially for doing so? Would you tell all because your career is over as a coach? Or would you write a book about everything?

If he feels like UL is crapping all over him he could blame it on higher ups. He could use the old " I was only doing what I was ordered to do defense"

I don't think Rick would encourage Billy D to take the job, especially if he is forced out.

Wow - does he not get that McGee REPRESENTED the University? He was part of the staff - and regardless of how anyone feels about prostitution, regardless of possible criminal charges for underage sex, it's STILL money paid for an impermissible benefit.

I get trying to defend your school, truly - I get hoping this didn't happen. But it did; the extent of it isn't known at this time, but there is enough there to show SOMETHING was going on.

If it were me, and I HAD sunk to the depths he has - it all depends on what UofL did. IF they blamed it all on me, and I was the fall guy; I'd talk to every media outlet who'd interview me. I'd write a tell-all book. I'd do everything it took to take down their administration. Period. I know I wouldn't willingly take the fall.

Here is an inconvenient truth for you Card fans. mcGee was Louisville's DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS. He wasnt a random fan treating recruits. He was a university EMPLOYEE.

Saying it was "only" McGee doesnt magically absolve the school.

I swear all of you UofL fans are dumber than a sack of hammers

I would have said Billy Donovan if he hadn't left for the NBA, but now who knows.

Buzz Williams would get a hard look...and maybe Bobby Hurley due to Addidas connections.

I'll be interested to find out who was footing the bill for these "ladies". I don't think McGee was exactly raking in the cash as the director of basketball operations. I thought I read where he was only making like $35k/yr?

I agree with almost everything you said, Erik. Jurich is a disgrace. However, as a college professor, I took Louisville's president's comments a bit differently. Yes, he praised and endorsed Jurich, but he also strategically drew a dividing line between himself and the athletics department with his "two presidents" comment. Some observations...

(1) This pre-emptively disconnects him from Jurich's dirty culture in athletics. Ramsey is basically saying that Jurich is alone on the athletics island. Ramsey is no fool. He is trying to save his job. He should be. It is on the line.
(2) This is terrible leadership. As president, Ramsey is ultimately responsible for all happenings at a university. By divorcing himself from athletics in the midst of what will be the biggest scandal in the university's history, he is acting in a cowardly way in front of the entire university community and in front of the taxpayers, who foot a huge chunk of Louisville's bill. If I were a professor at Louisville, I'd be ashamed and betrayed right now. I would want my president to speak in a way that asserts control over every step of this process, from responsibility taking, to investigating, to discipline. He is instead coming across as feeble, dithering, and only concerned for himself.
(3) He is inconsistent. He says he has virtually no control over athletics (not true) and then says he has control over academics (he doesn't). Academics is the provost's job. He is no more in charge of academics at Louisville than he is over athletics. Again, he is trying to align himself with the normal, non-athletic part of the university in order to distance himself from this scandal.
(4) He is doing his job--in a way. The real job of a university president is to fundraise. Right now, he is attempting to carefully manage public opinion by creating two separate entities at Louisville: Academics and athletics. Those in the know know that this is a false dichotomy; he is only doing it to try to manage the damage.

I agree that this is terrible leadership but, in all fairness, the story isn't over yet. I am not sure he could do a whole lot more, at this point, without risking legal ramifications. We have to remember that both Jurich and Pitino are universities employees and subject to employment laws, contracts, etc.

I think of Tarkanian who might have been one of the more crooked coaches in the country when he was at UNLV. The NCAA tried to get him suspended but he fought it in the courts and won. Whether we like it or not, there is due process for coaches and AD's.

Many of the Tards are posting that all of this could be lies. I love how they've always stated "where there's smoke there's fire", yet they are sticking their heads in the sand over this scandal. They don't have smoke. They have a raging inferno! A 4 alarm dumpster fire!
