There is really no sense in dealing with Louisville fans at this early stage. They are, somewhat understandably, in full batten down the hatches mode. But if you are going to respond, just make it simple. Ask them: "What if this exact scenario was happening right now, but it was UK and Calipari and a former UK player turned coach?" They know full well that they would be destroying UK and Cal. They would be latching on full force to the "pulitzer prize winning journalist," the investigation that was done before publishing, the text messages, the pictures with hookers in the dorm, the non-denial denials by the coaches and former players, etc. They would be laughing at any attempt to suggest that everything is a complete fabricated conspiracy. They would would be calling us absolutely insane for suggesting there was "zero evidence" that anything actually happened. They would be screaming for Cal's head regardless of whether he knew, just as with the UMass and Memphis cases, but they would also be 100% confident that Cal had to know.
In short, let them hope that this will be nothing. If somehow they are right, the stain will be there forever regardless. If they are wrong, the fall will be even further.
