IMHO what UL is shooting for and hoping is that they can convince the commonwealth and police force to charge her on pimping out a 15 year old in hopes that she recants her story to save her own butt.

What they don't realize is this woman is clearly vindictive enough to burn them all down to the ground even if that means getting caught in the blaze. not to mention a lawyer would let her know if she does that, then they can sue her for defamation. So i really hope this goes to trial... it will be 10 x's more interesting than Pitino's 15 seconds of abortion trial.

i love it that ul fans think if they dont get probation they'll be OK. you guys are already screwed. this won't be resolved by nsd and you are gonna suck this year. so look for a less than stellar class to go with the pile of suck already on campus. if rick stays next years class will suck as well. your looking at 2 years of mediocrity at best. that is your best case scenario... being mediocre til little rick can replace daddy and turn things around. just a few recruiting sanctions and you guys will be hurting for a decade.

Not to drag anyone else into this, but I've got a few friends that are hardened Memphis alumni that claim the Tigers have had issues with prositution for decades. Not with an actual "pay for play" system, but their athletes tend to end up inside highway 51 Motel, on the "end room by the stairs."

:D

Some of the recruits would have been under 18. That is what potentially pushes this towards Sandusky territory IMO.

I hope not. It seems like the worst the scandal is nowadays, the more the NCAA pushes to ignore it.

sandusky wasn't raping kids for recruiting purposes. this story is all about whether or not the ncaa is gonna hold a school responsible for prostitutes, alcohol, and who knows what else being provided to recruits by a member of the staff at an ncaa members campus?

"We've investigated this matter for an extended period of time, and it's been deemed an internal condition. There's no evidence any one coach had knowledge of this incident."

Watch it happen. If the NCAA does not slap Louisville with something substantial, it proves they are a corrupt governing body who's terrified of enforcing it's rules.

BS aside, they've hit much lesser incidences with severe penalties.

It still blows my mind that Cal had to have a 500 win trophy basketball "taken down" and UNC to this day has yet to lose one single dollar, game, or scholarship over the biggest athletic and academic scandal in NCAA history. This is the kind of crap you get when you put a bunch of ideological thought minions together to enforce and make rules. Like the government, they can't even get out of their own way.

That is very true. He wasn't.

Both cases potentially involve sex acts with minors though. The Sandusky case is much more disturbing, but I would rank this one #2.

I posted this in another thread here but, think about this...
Maybe the reason Pitino and Jurich sounded so beaten down last Friday was that someone (Forde perhaps?) had tipped them off that Blakeney had spilled the beans to NCAA investigators? Notice everything since has been 'circle the wagons' mode but, no real denial of anything. It would explain quite a lot of the behavior we have seen the last 5-6 days.

If someone makes a mistake in their posting, I tend to ignore the mistake if I understand what they originally meant. Too many here making fun of people instead of using this place for it's original intent. So yes I failed to get the joke yesterday.
Shame on me for thinking this is where UK fans communicate about UK BB.
also, my wrong on for confusing you with JasonS.

Lighten up Francis. Nobody was laying into you or anything. Just some light-hearted ribbing about a simple mistake.

Think about this:

Bruce Pearl got **** canned at Tennessee because Aaron Craft had a hamburger at his house.

At TENNESSEE.
Because of a barbque

UofLol*** is toast

Actually Pearl was canned because he's a habitual liar and he's not well liked in this profession because he's a crook.

But I get your point. Pearl is a snitch, a cheat, and a scumbag all rolled into one. I actually look for him to be the next coach at UL.

Your "lighten up francis" is old and cliche. You like others "you can't stand the truth." Another old and cliche saying.

If you read the thread, you would see some Did say things against me. Like you. (internet bullying)

Yeah he lied about him being there, still, it's nowhere near as widespread. The skankening at UofLol*** seems to be a systematic recruiting advantage (granted doesn't seem to have helped much) over years. Not an isolated incident.

we knew that when they hired Petrino the second time.

Exactly. Or when they kept Pitino the first time. It's like the scene in Dumb and Dumber when the hit man suggests they mess up their apartment to send a message. His associate says "I don't think they're gonna get that message, Joe. I mean they have worms in their living room."

Looking down the road at what all this might lead to....'

* if the basketball program gets the death penalty or hit so hard it might as well be the death penalty, does this pave the way for an NBA team in Louisville?

* does a conference anchored by Duke and Virginia take a second look at Louisville as a member? It's not like the football program is a shining city on the hill. Louisville has all these amazing facilities, but they have become a punchline nationally. And the conference is starting to.

the ncaa is just trying to protect "student athletes". which is a bs excuse to patrol what they feel needs patrolling. but student athletes/recruits are the most willing participants in this. scholarships are not enough these days, and this has been a continuing narrative for almost a decade. the ncaa could do their damn job and hit cheating programs (not institutions) where it hurts. that's how you police it for effect. but rather the ncaa will pick and choose according to what makes them money. they have no problem going well beyond their jurisdiction (psu) or going overboard on something that should not even be policed. that unc is being protected means ul is probably screwed. ironic though as they both make them money.

Would be like winning the lottery for me if the ACC decided to oust UL due to the salacious nature of their administration providing child prostitutes for players and recruits.

I knew they were scum. We all knew they were scum. Look at the dregs of society they have openly welcomed to their program. Coaches and players alike. This onion is being peeled back and its inner core is being revealed.

All the talk of cars and drugs has suddenly gained traction. If a program is willing to stoop to this level, what will it accept on the way down? Certainly a school that is willing to pay prostitutes would be willing to break many rules that aren't morally bankrupt. There is nothing morally wrong with providing someone a car. That is just a rule. Providing a player with some extra walking around money isn't that bad of an infraction. Is it?

Pitino teaches his kids that the ends justify the means, if you have a good story. He uses 9/11 to invoke feelings of compassion from his listeners. He wants your pity for his loss of Billy Minardi, a loss that drove him to publically humiliate the man's sister by having messy sex on a public table where people would be eating a few hours later.

Pitino has proven himself to be a pathological liar. He is unable to see the other side of his lies as rational people are able to do. Despite him knowing the facts had been revealed about the timing of UL's knowledge of the allegations and the book, he presented himself as just recently becoming aware prior to the press conference. He pretended he learned of the situation when Pat Forde broke the news.

His tales of crying himself to sleep over anything, fall on deaf ears. His only waking thoughts are "why did I have to get caught?" and "how can I blame someone else for this?"

So why believe she's even a prostitute then or that she pimps out her daughters if you refuse to believe anything else she says?

Its all the same talking points and not a single UL fan has a good answer on why prostitutes were in the Dorm, why one had her hand on Chane's crotch while he smiles and waves and why Blakeney remembers the other from embassy suites. Why would a pulitzer winner take on this assignment without doing research and discovering at least some of what she claims is true?

Two unbiased people researched this, Cady and the FBI 3rd party guy... They have no beef with UL.
Excellent summary rebuttal.
* And why would UL know about this for a month but wait until 2 days before the book is released to "self-report" it to the NCAA (per Courier Journal)?
* And why would Jurich/Pitino investigate this for a month and then hold a press conference on the eve of the book's release to say: "We didn't know" instead of "This book is a lie"?

has this gone beyond a UK/UL thing? I mean I'm sure when the announcement was made there was a blip on ESPN somewhere and then the OTL thing which was 30 minutes of "*IF* they did it scenarios with conjecture about security cameras and who knew what when.

but I'm not really seeing much discussion about this beyond the six degrees of UK/UL fansite connections in the links provided.

I get the whole child prostitute thing is horrible and should be addressed, but setting that aside, I kind of get the feeling that most of the nation is like "I'm supposed to care that a school got girls for recruits? Show me more pictures of hot teachers who screwed their 17 year old students"

then again maybe I'm just projecting my personal reaction to it. I am enjoying the angst shown by UL fans to the point they feel compelled to create new user names and come over here to defend their program's integrity knowing they have two coaches that have been involved in highly publicized extra marital affairs. Talk about fighting the uphill battle.

The NCAA cares more about lying than actual events which is why Blakeney is likely the key. They can, if they haven't already, go to him and make it clear he will sit if he doesn't come clean. He only wants to be in college one year so will likely be more than glad to tell them what went down in exchange for a few games suspension.

To the UofL poster who said something about Pitino's and Petrino's scandals: Yes, they cheated on their wives; unfortunately it happens every day. That, in itself is no big deal in the big scheme of things (although it disgusts me to no end, period). But what you seem to be ignoring is how and what happened in that infidelity. There was no discretion at ALL for either of them. If you don't think that sets a precedent, I don't know what to tell you.

The reality is that college basketball just isn't that big of a news maker any longer.

There is no doubt that this is a huge story amongst those that follow college basketball. Just don't expect it to dominant national conversations over NFL, college football and the MLB playoffs.
