So what are the odds that the ACC decides to kick Louisville out of the conference over this... seriously.

They are new to the conference, their profile is a horrible mismatch for the other schools, and now they have a sex scandal blow up in theirs face involving, most likely in some cases, underage recruits.

A #UofL rep says President Ramsey will make a statement on the basketball scandal during the board of trustees meeting at 1pm @840WHAS
Ramsey is impotent as they all are...

They are all tied together.

Ramsey doesn't want to piss anyone off because he's gonna end up in jail over the slush fund endowment stuff.

The corruption there is so deep, I'm not sure HOW they can clean it all up!

The title of the thread doesn't indicate that it's 50 pages of jokes about crimes against a minor. If it was more descriptive, I might have avoided it.

I hope this thread goes to 500 pages.

It should have a permanent place at the top of this forum, as sticky as Too Tall's hair.

The atmosphere at UofL (and attitude of their fans) is one of arrogance and elitist condescension. That's been their problem for sometime. It would be different if they had anything to base that attitude on but, they're the 'B team' in their own state and some might argue even in their own city. Under jurich I think you could say they've overachieved. No way should they have been granted entry to the ACC and only by essentially negotiating with themselves have they managed to make a cash grab for the profits of the Yum Center.
For these and numerous other reasons, no one is going to shed a single tear if UofL gets hammered. They've repeatedly made deals with the Devil(s) and till now not had to pay a price. They should have known that ultimately their transgressions would catch up with them.
We've long known that the culture surrounding UofL is a direct reflection of those at the top. What did Card fans think would happen with characters like Jurich, Pitino and Petrino running their programs? All of this shouldn't surprise anyone. The old saying applies perfectly here..."if you lay down with dogs, you wake with fleas".

Here's an aspect I hadn't thought about. What is the NCAA going to hit them with? I had assumed impermissible benefits. But these things were on official visits which are paid for by the university. I've heard the term "lack of institutional control". Would that apply here?

Now obviously, laws have been broken, but what NCAA RULES have been broken to merit possible vacated games? Someone on another site wondered if the NCAA may turn the whole thing over to the cops and lawyers and say "we have no teeth here. The matter belongs to the courts."

I don't know guys, UL might get away with this if the NCAA has watched them play ball the last few years. They have not been able to score in Kentucky since Cal arrived.

Jurich is the end-all, be-all regarding anything athletic in nature and everybody knows it.

That was a joke of an interview and highly unprofessional on the part of the radio station. I don't know these guys but the second guy did a better job of attempting to probe the content of the book. The first guy showed his hand obviously and appeared to be a conniving, whiny prick. They spent more time attacking the credibility of the author after pumping him and his Pulizter Prize.

Potentially: Impermissible benefits, ineligible players, lack of institutional control, and whatever the new bylaw is regarding head coach responsibility for whatever happens.

They could see vacated wins, vacated banners, a post-season ban, head coach game suspensions, scholarship reductions, and probation.

I seriously doubt that UofL's banner is in jeopardy. It should be but, won't be.
The only way it could come down is if evidence surfaces that Pitino and Jurich both knew of the Dough-For-Ho's program and/or actually steered school funds to that effort. I think the likelihood of that happening, let alone being proven is pretty slim.
All of this may cost Pitino his job a little earlier than he planned via retirement. UofL may also have to sit out one or more NCAA tournaments, accept a reduction in scholarships for a few years but, I can't see it going much farther than that.

Is it at all possible that he has had enough of these shenanigans??!?!?!?!?

Or is he just going to continue the deflect, ignore facts, twist facts, attack the messengers, etc. type of approach that UL has taken from the beginning?

Breaking News..... I am hearing that UofL was tipped off before the story was released on CBS Sports. They started laying off the Bouncers at the Minardi Little Brothel and Gentlemen's Club earlier this morning. Very sad.

Sounds kinda like Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre.

Question.
Why would the NCAA interview recruits before interviewing Pitino and Jurich? Is that an "out" for them to fall on their swords? Surely the NCAA knows the content of their interviews with guys like Blakeney and Lyle will leak and the accused administration will then update/change their eventual testimony accordingly?

Regarding that statement from Dr Ramsey, that was certainly enlightening. What the hell... Flames are starting to come from your basketball program, and you compliment Tom Jurich. Why even bother! I did notice he didn't mention Rick or make any denials though. They are cooked.

It doesn't feel like it, and hasn't been shown yet, but boosters from YUM, Brown-Forman, Humana, Papa Johns, etc do have more power than Jurich. Corporations have driven their endowment and facilities growth.

I have that book, and totally forgot about that issue.

There is plenty in that chapter to question Pitino's actions. His stint at Hawaii was in conflict with his boss as well. From some of the comments, it sounds like he learned how to stretch the truth early on in his coaching career.

Old news, yes, but still a pattern of his behavior towards others who question him.

North Carolina's 2005 NCAA championship is FAR, FAR more tainted than any other in history. Every player on that starting team owes his eligibility to cheating while attending the university, that was at least implicitly sanctioned by the athletic department.

As much as I loathe Louisville, if their banner comes down and UNC's stay up, it'll be a disgrace.
That one will never come down

Kerry Rhodes posted on the Cards message board that Lyle was lying to the NCAA
and another poster told him he had his head in the sand.
This is great entertainment. I hope it never ends.
